Does anyone believe that we could get the government to accept wicca as a way of life? or will we still have to live in a nation that only believes in one god?

Honestly I think that the government shouldent make religin of any kind the basis of this nation at all. I am a Wiccan and honestly I hate having to hide my religin because of that. Yeah I can practice arround my husband and kids, but I cant arround my Christian mother because she thinks it is evil. My best friend is a Roman Catholic and she has seen first hand that it is not evil but if her church found out that she was hanging out with a Wiccan she would be shunned out of the church and it is completely wrong. Everyone should be able to practice freely and in the open NO matter what there religin is without hate.

Wicca is recognized by the government. Its just the people who are locked into a certain way of thinking that will never change.

Wiccian Triple Moon - The Wiccan Triple moon. It stands for three of the faces of the moon and Goddess as the Maiden, Mother, and Crone.
I think they are starting to with being able to list it on soldiers dog tags now. It's not a organized religon (thankfully) so I am not sure it will ever be governmently accepted.

Sorry something to add : I think it's because of the strong hold that Christianity has on our country. The Church has a major problem with Wiccans especially.

I have to agree strongly with some other posters... Government should stay way clear of any rleigious element and allow us our liberty to freedom of religion... But... on your "live in a nation that only believes in one god?"... we don't really... a majority may be monothiestic or even judiac specifically, and many people in positions of power and authority may subscribe to those religions (and sometimes pres stheir beliefs on others), but our Country was not founded on religion, not devoted to any religion, and hopefully will stay that way... :o)

I believe this country is quite open to letting people live their own way of life

The government should ignore all religions equally. Religion should concern itsself entirely with the soul and the government shoud concern it's self with the nuts and bolts of running a nation suchas the economy. Their paths should never cross. If it worked like that civil unions would have passed decades ago, because there would be no basis to fight them.

Well supposedly we do have the freedom of relgion here nin America...and believe it or not, the United State Army does recognize a person's right to follow the Wicca path as a legitamite relligion..so in other words it is against Army rules to persecute someone for being Wiccan
