Many a times we need to memorise things. i try to memorise them by reading constantly. but sometimes i succeed in retaining them and sometimes not. People say that if you constanlt write it down then you will memorise the things for ever. but easier said than done how does one write big notes again and again.even if one understands the topic there are so many things to remember. How do you go about memorizing things?

I write almost everything down, but sometimes it doesn't help unless i read it a few times too, that way i have both down and it's a lot easier to remember. I can remember some things without doing both but usually i need to do both to remember anything. I know that it's different for everyone, but i like to keep a documentation to all events that go on in my life so i can go back through them and remember at any time. I forget the smallest things, like my passwords, i have to have them written down in the house, and i forget my friends names sometimes, i just have a terrible memory, so that's why doing both reading and writing it out totally works for me... If i do it enough i can remember it for a couple of weeks.

I dont think writing down things gives you the guarantee that you'll remember them "forever". There ARE some things that can be remembered this way easily but that's not because you've written them down, its because you've used a larger part of your brain to concentrate on them. So even saying it to yourself again and again over enough time will do it. As for big notes, if you want to rot-learn them, then I think writing can help greatly. If you just want to absorb their sense, then better just understand them thoroughly :)

yeah, based on my experience its easy to read(with understanding) then write and read(with understanding) again what you wrote...it enhances your memorization on certain lessons or subject...ive done that during my review at law school...and it helps...so read write and read again(dont forget to understand what your reading too or ealse you wont memorize it)...peace!

memory recalling is a tough job once u forget a hing it is literally impossble to recall it but if u have written it somewhere u can recall it more easily. whenever u right something it get retained in ur mind so noting down is a better option 4 memorising things

I personally think tat the writing things is not the key but repeated writing of the things is the way to memories (at least in case of studies).

I usually write what I need to memorize, as time goes, you will, probably, need to write less and less. I started copying what I need to memorize, with time I developed some skill in resuming it, eventually, only minor notes are needed for me to memorize the whole thing. But I did it only for things that I really needed to have in my mind (as study for some examination), other things, that I don't need in my mind, like my schedulle, I never even tought about it, just developed the habit of allways consulting it.

I usually have to say things over and over again to memorize things myself. When I am going to a new place I need to drive there myself. I cant just ride with someone and then remember the directions by myself without doing it. I mean sometimes I can but most of the time not.

For me it is easier if I read it myself, because of this, I would especially during my school years keep lots of notes during lecture courses, but then not really know what I wrote down, so I would rewrite the notes legibly. This gave me a chance to read and write them so that I had a better ability to remember them. Yes for me writing things down does help me remember things. Even now I have to write things down, this is more so I can find what I want later than to actually remember it, the thing I then need to remember is where did I write it LOL.

If I need to memorize things I usually write it down and then go back and read it a few times. For my finals in High School I took the advice of my dad and actually tape recorded my own voice reciting some of the notes I'd made, then played it back to myself a few times in the hope of remembering some of it. I passed my finals well enough so I guess it helped somewhat.

Hi! WHen I was still in school, I used to write down important notes repeatedly...after reading a topic, I will write down the topic and it really works! I am able to memorize more..the topic is retained more in my head. It really helps me a lot especially in exams and recitations. Hope this helps = )

Sometimes I've scared to forget some moments of my life and when that happens I write it, in a diary, a page that I'll keep, it seems that I can't forget those moments that in the time were very important. In the other day I read some things that I didn't remind the details and I really like the feeling to remember everything!

Writing down not necessary have to be memorise. Mostly in office we just make note small bits and peice of paper. The idea of noting down is to refer if forgotten. The note can down points could be made rythemic and step by step which will help memorising

Yeah, I think that writing helps me to memorise or remember things easily. If I just listen, I can't guarantee I'll remember it in the next few minutes. But by writing, I tend to remember what I wrote. For example, when I was in school, I wrote out notes of things that I wanted or had to remember. Guess what? I did remember. It's a simple way to memorize things. But if you need to really memorize it, then I suggest you keep repeating it until it's glued to your brain. Haha! Or just keep reading it everyday so you'll never forget it.

Writing down the things i've read is an effective way for me to remember them specially the important ones. I've used this technique during college and also during the trainings i've attended for my work.

ya, writing is a good thing.you can retain things more well only if you write them.but it does not mean that you write the whole thing again and again .all you need to do is you jot down all the points...this will help you a lot

I record myself on the recorder sometimes, I read the lecture out loud and recorded them. Burn those files on the CD... and listen to them whenever I have chances. I didnt really pay attention when I listen to them For example, I play that CD when I'm driving, taking shower, cooking, and do some other things. I just feel like listen to someone talking to me and then I think I can memorise it better and longer than just keep repeat reading books over and over or writing notes down so many times.
