Ok, in Canada there is a lot of talk of late about legalizing marijuana. Now I could ask you what you thought of this and if you think it is wise, but that's not nearly as much fun as asking the following questions: 1) If smoking pot were legal, would you smoke up once and a while instead of drinking, assuming of course all the same safety precautions, such as designated driver etc. 2) Assuming it was legal which do you think would be worse, being served punch spiked with vodka or brownies made with hash? MY ANSWERS: 1) Personally I think pot should be legal, and if consumed in moderation it would be ok. I think that I would definately smoke up from time to time instead of drinking because it is cheaper, and has different effects. 2) I think that anyone spiking anything without letting people know should be fined, I think tricking someone into becoming intoxicated is horrible. That being said I think the brownies would be more enjoyable, I love chocolate LOL.

Not much to add to this because I agree with you entirely. Although you must admit that the key words are "in moderation". Now while I try to do this in all aspects of my life, many don't. They over indulge in many ways and this is where the drama starts. If only people did not get drunk, if only people did not get off their face if only people did not over eat. It's a pipe dream my friend and in order to have some stability and control this situation must remain the way it is. The consequences of legalising it would make things worse, not better. The fact it's illegal probably deters many many folk from indulging. Legalise it and you're asking for trouble.

Ahh, you're obviously more up to date with things my friend and the points you raise have merit and I can see how some of the problems over time would be eliminated. Viva le pot! Scuse my french! lol.

People are being killed because of prohibition. No one is dying because of smoking pot. Prohibition is much worse. Also laws should not be based on protecting people from themselves.

I thought pot was already legal in Canada? *shakes head*...need to stay updated.... I think a person should have the right to screw up their body of they want to as long as they are smart about it. -Myr

Oh I'd love for it to be legalized. I think it would be great especially for those who need it for medicinal purproses but also for everyone. I can't understand why they continue to fight having it legal. As you said when used in moderation and in the right places it's not a problem. Yes if it was legal I would smoke it. I suffer with chronic pain and I've been told it can really help with this. I don't know how often I would be I would periodically at lest. As for spiking I'd have a problem no matter what was put in there without letting anyone know about it. That is just asking for major trouble. Now if they let us know I'd prefer the brownies. I love brownies :) They are a weakness of mine.

1) no I wouldn't - have tried it a few times and it does nothing for me. Much prefer a drink. A lot of my friends do it and it doesn't bother me at all that they do so but I'm quite happy sitting with my vodka. One of the major differences I've noticed is that I KNOW I'm talking rubbish when I'm drinking - they, on the other hand, seem to think they're making sense! 2) having been on the receiving end of a spiked drink and also having been tricked into eating chocolate cake made with hash I can say I'd prefer the latter because it just made me sleep. The former scenario was pretty nightmarish.

If it is legalized then also a lot of problems will be there. Now people are a little afraid to sell it as it is banned.NO I do not think it should be legalized.

Your logic is flawed, the criminal element has no problem selling it now, if it were legalized and controlled as smoking is here then you would only be able to buy it in stores not just off the street, and you would not be exposed to the criminal element.

I'm in favour of legalization, but I probably wouldn't use it. I don't enjoy being stoned that much. I'm at an age where it's easy to put on weight, and the thought of doing anything that might inspire me to make an emergency run to 7-Eleven for Cheetos and Pop-Tarts scares the hell out of me. I also have young kids, and think one parent should always stay fully sober, if the other is drinking (or doing anything else mind-altering), so I probably wouldn't have much opportunity to do it anyway. I'm definitely anti-spiking, but can't imagine someone not noticing pot in a brownie.

Actually, there is some talk in the States about legalizing it as well. Kind of like the Canadian program, legalizing a very small amount that you can carry and I guess use for yourself. It's kind of strange though, who's going to carry it to give it to you if you can only have a certain amount at a time? it's not a bad idea though.

Well the theory is to punish the dealers, but not the users. After all the dealers are really the issue, pot users are far from dangerous. Of course it will make getting the pot more difficult, but I think more people would grow a plant in their house if it weren't criminal.

I donot agree with you I dont think it should be legalized and thankfully I doubt it ever will. I have seen the effects of smoking pot and drinking they are both bad and tear peoples lives apart. Some people dont know how to just drink or smoke pot in a moderate way. And thats when it recks the lives and the people around them. End of story

1) I would not smoke if it were legal because I hate smoking. It's as simple as that. I've had many relatives die from smoking and I have a few that are dying of smoking. Doesn't make me want to smoke a damn thing, I tell you! However, I wouldn't mind other people doing it. I'd be fine being that "designated driver". From my experience, making it illegal has not stopped consumption- make it legal, tax those who sell it.. and those who can, grow your own! It makes great rope and such, you know.. 2) It would be worse with the brownies. I loooveeee vodka, so I'd taste it and drink up some more. The brownies? Well, just no. I wouldn't like that.

I'm another one that believes that Pot should be made legal. The effects of smoking Pot are different to being drunk, and there are also no side effects lol. I've smoked up on occasion. I find it relaxes me after a stressful day. As for spiking things, that's just wrong. What if someone had an adverse reaction to something because they didn't realize it had been spiked? I think I too would have to go with the brownies on this one lol. I'm a sucker for anything chocolate.

In my country pot is already legalized. The weed is sold in so-called "coffeeshops". The problem we now have are illegal weedplants. Some people still want to grow their own outside the legal circuit. What this amounted to could be seen in my street last year. Someone had a weedplant in the attic. The heat of the lamps caused a fire and as a result the house burnt down. So whether pot is legal or not there will always be problems if people try to dodge the law.
