What did you think of the Oscars telecast?

At four hours, it was long, and as much as I like Ellen, I don't think she was the right host. I was really disappointed that Peter O'Toole didn't win. The three comedians singing number was lame. What I did like: The screenwriting category, presented by Helen Mirren and Tom Hanks, with clips from the scripts and movies really showed what screenwriters do. Polobilus, the silhouette shapes, was fun. Marty Scorsese finally won. All the clip compilations, including In Memoriam. Jerry Seinfeld. The costume presentations. I never liked just seeing the drawings; I like seeing the costumes on people. The best songs production numbers. Al Gore won. And his comedy routine with Leo was funny. What did you think? Best parts? Worst parts?

It was not as entertaining as the Spirit awars for independant films the previous night...however it was not too bad...as a screenwriter I take away some inspiration from watching and I enjoyed it

Yeah Ellen kinda annoyed me throughout the whole thing. I actually liked the comedians singing thing but I love Will Ferrel and Jack Black. I loved the silhouette shapes, it was very interesting and odd. I also loved that Al Gore won, and yeah the comedy thing with Leo was hilarious. I wished that he would actually announce that he was running for president that would have been a good way to do it. The thing I hated was that I missed all the major awards since it ran over, I only taped through what it was scheduled for so I missed after the Best Original Song.

I HATED the three comedians singing. Way lame. I loved the shadow creatures. I would like to see Peter O'Toole win an Oscar, and by the looks of him he doesn't have long to make that happen, but I never thought there was a chance that anyone other than Forrest Whittaker would win Best Actor this year. I thought Jerry Seinfeld was funny and I think it is a possibility that he could be a future Oscar host. He's just not as likeable as Ellen, though, so I don't know how it would work out. With some exceptions, I thought that the individual elements of the show were done well but that there were too many of them. Like the montages - most were quite good, but it was just too long. I also hated having to wait so long for the acting awards to start. I like it when one of the supporting characters leads off the show.

It was very long. I caught bits and pieces cause I just couldn't sit that long. I was channel surfing too. I was so happy for Ellen. She did an amazing job and it was so touching to hear her the next day on her show and on Oprah, expressing how much this meant to her. A dream come true. I was happy to see Jennifer Hudson win. I was also happy to see Martin Scorsese win too. That was well deserved. Oh I missed Al Gore and Leo. Oh darn.
