i told my 3 year old i want to take a nice hot bath cause i've been sick for a few days. she loves taking a bath with me but i just want to be alone so i can have really hot water. she starts saying i gave her my cold and starts fake caughing and says she's sick too. start pathetically dragging herself to the bathroom to take a bath. i can't get any time alone. but she's so funny.

Yup! That's what happens when you have a child! But don't worry, look on the bright side, you will never be lonely! If you want to take a hot bath, maybe you should just tell your 3 year old that you are going to be in the bathroom and then give her some toys to play with or a book. Or you can just let her watch television. OR, you can tell her you're going to give her a surprise when you come out of the bathroom or something! (That's what I usually do with little children)

Sorry you are not well! Least your 3 year old has made you smile, though. I remember my daughter ( a teenager, now) saying to me a while back, that when she was much younger, she was under the impression that mums never became ill, at all! She never remembers me even having a cold ( I did) whilst she was younger...and come to think of it, I don't ever remember my mother being poorly as I was growing up! Hope you manage a nice long soak, and feel better!

Doesn't it seem like that happens everytime. When anyone else in the family is sick it seems we do all we can to make them comfortable and happy, but when we're sick that all kind of goes out the window?

My friend used to wait for me to come over to shower so I could watch the kids. Is there someone who can come over to distract her for about an hour?

Wouldnt it be easier to wait until she has gone to bed and then have your bath?

Well since you are sick , for sometime call a help to babysit her so that you might find sometime to recover, then you can join her in her fun in a better way.

LOL! i know how you feel, i have a 2 and 5 year old. I almost NEVER get to get even a quick shower without worrying if the kids are ok, or having them in the bathroom with me. We have jacuzzi tub in our bathroom..and i've used it, oh, ONCE. AND my daughter kept coming in while i was in it! Oh well, the joys of parenting! I guess one day we'll have a few moments of peace now and then!

Spend the time you usually would with your daughter,in the tub or elsewhere and than explain to he that because she's sick she needs to go to bed a little early, once she's asleep, take your hot bath.....I've done this with all of mine and it works.....or it stops them from 'faking' sick

Isn't it funny and OH SO cute how kids learn so quickly how to manipulate??!! LOL I know the feeling with kids wanting to take baths with you. I gave up...I only get baths now after the kids go to bed. Bedtime is 830pm and by 930, my butt is in a hot hot bath every single night! It's mommy time!

I hear ya' because I only get to shower by myself like once a month, otherwise, my son is in there with me (he's 15 months) he is a total mommy's boy and likes to be everywhere I am all the time! The times I do get to take a shower by myself, my husband distracts our son while I go upstairs and then keeps him occupied for about 15 minutes.

I know! That actually happened to me just about an hour ago! My 3 year old, boy was like I wanna take a bath too! I was telling him he needs to go hang out with daddy for a minute, and he says no and stays by the door talking to me the whole time, I love my son, but I also have a 5 month old and I need a few seconds alone especially when I am sick and staying up all night with the baby.
