How do you feel about the war in Iraq? Should we be there? If so, why? If we shouldn't, do you think we should pull out? If so, should we stage it, and when? Or should we just pull everyone out all at once and bring our troops home? Is the War In Iraq really linked to the War On Terror, or did Bush just use the War On Terror as a gateway to Iraq? If so, why do you think he did it? There are no right or wrong answers, it's your opinion, and all opinions will be respected (even if I don't agree with them).

My husband has been to Iraq once and will go again soon. I think that it would be an awful thing for the US to pull out all troops, immeidately. These people still need our help. There are terrorists coming in from other countries (it was all but proven today by a weapons cache they found that came from Iran). Saying that, I do not think that we should be there forever. The Iraqi people need to step up and start taking control of their country and soon, it is detremental to their society. I understand completely that they have lived under tyranny, but we as a country cannot keep putting billions and billions of dollars into keeping that country safe. I think that a pullout should be staged. For instance, if the Iraqi's are gaining conrol within the next say 10 months or so, we should start withdrawing our troops, slowly. Do I think Bush used the War on Terror As a Gateway to Iraq? No, I don't. Sadaam Hussein needed to be dethroned. He was a horrible person, a tyrant. All of the information that we had, at the time, said that Hussein was harboring WMD's. He was just doing what he thought was best for this country's safety.

I agree. And I (and a lot of other Americans) most definately appreciate your husband, and all of our troops, who are fighting on foreign soil so that we can be free here at home.
Thank you for a perspective of the war from the eyes of a soldier's wife. It's very much appreciated!

Ah, thank you. There's more wife's just like me too, we're the silent majority with our views on this. Not saying that I might not change my mind in 6 months or so though :).

Andben, so very concise and so accurate! However, you will find that most of the people still supporting the 2003 invasion of Iraq are void of any ability to think and/or reason for themselves. (oh, it's a very long story!) You would think that the revelations would have gotten the church folks that primarily supported team Bush into war with Iraq to scream foul play, but no! The whole saga is almost too ficticious to believe; although we all know that it is indeed happening!

I hear you. However, no true human could have supported the 2003 invasion of Iraq based on the allegations the US government presented. Just not possible! Do not forget how the 2003 invasion of Iraq all started:
It all started with George W. Bush trumpeting the tragedies of 911/2001, and desperately attempting to link Iraq's president Saddam Hussein and Iraq to the the copycat incidents of 911/2001! After a failed attempt, an alleged non-compliance with UN's resolution 1441 on WMD became the loophole against Iraq by the USA, a nation that itself would not comply (for more than 30 years) with signed UN treaties on WMD! Then by mid-March 2003, it became "we have to liberate the Iraqi people". Just how, for heaven's sake, do you liberate a people by killing them, destroying their properties and disabling their economy?
I am a Bible believing Christian and live in Texas, but have never supported George W. Bush, especially in his unjustified invasion of Iraq. I know that if it were not for church folks, team W. Bush would never have had enough support to invade Iraq. Ironic, isn't it? Almost everyone saw the hypocrisy but church folks!
Although democrats often wait until elections to run into churches for support, I know that republicans already have most churches by the throat; although I also know that being a republican does not necessarily mean being a Christian, just as being a Muslim does not necessarily mean being a "terrorist"!
Long and short of story: most people supported and still support the unnecessary invasion of Iraq because they are compelled to - they are only following directives. Please see:

Tarsadown, war is not child's play! People go to war on real serious issues, not because they want to portray to the world how powerful they think they are - jingoism. In all you have stated, you have not stated one reason why the US government is (or was) justified in invading Iraq! Or, who, by the way, made the US government the world police. Did you know that not being able to manage its own nation, the US government has not only turned the US into a police state, but uses implants and electronic waves to manipulalte its people? Please see:

As per church folks: I stated church folks because they were the only ones gullible enough (very ironic) and appear to be that uninformd not to be able to put two and two together. And as per "intelligence ...." the only intelligence the US government has and/or knows is on "how to intimidate and plunder!" My deductions are not mere allegations, they are facts - historical facts about piracy US government! And yes, it is all a mind game! Please see:
Mind Games - http://www.geocities.com/ulafrique/games.html
As already said, one could not have been a true human and supported the unnecessary invasion 2003 of Iraq! Just not possible! Of course, a robot or human imposter will only parrot whatsoever it is programmed to parrot, regardless of facts and truths! Good-luck!

I supported the initial invasion (my husband wasn't even in the military then), and I am QUITE sure that I have, "the ability to think and/or reason," for myself. It's something that I believe in. Will I believe the way I do in a year or so, who knows, but as of now, I believe in it. I also like how you bring Church into it. Church has nothing to do with whether or not I support this war.
