Ive been growing them inside for years actually. I have an herbal garden in my kitchen window, Where i can pull off fresh herbs to cook with every day. I cant plant them outside, its neagtive 20 F out there right now, and the weather wont warm untill april-may. In the summer i do grow in a garden, a massive garden, as well as flowers.
But they do just as nicely inside as regular plants do.

I have little lettuce chutes growing in old ice cube trays. Love having those fresh greens!!!
Last winter the kids and I grew baby carrots in a window box. It worked really well, as we weren't expecting anything that big anyway. The kids thought it was a lot of fun.

Thats such a good idea! I bet chives would grow well in there too, they dont seem to care overly much about root space. I had them growing in gravel lol.
