Can adults still have dreams?

As kids we dream about what we want to be when we grow up. As adults we also dream except we may ask ourselves: am I too old to have dreams?
Some of us look in the mirror and not see the person we want to be. Dreams seem to be different for adults because we are old enoght and hopefully mature enough to understand what it will take to make our dreams come true.
Far too many of us understand, but lack the drive to do what is necessary to make our dreams a reality. We make excuse after excuse and before we know it, we have convinced ourselves our dreams are unrealistic and that our dreams should remain simply dreams.
There is no greater a disservice a person can do to him or herself. Our lives are made up of choices and with certain choices, commitments and responsibilities occur.
I believe everything happens for a reason and if we pay attention, the twists and turns in our lives may guide us to something we perhaps never dreamed of before. Excuses, however, will destroy the true essence of who we are if we allow excuses to get in the way of our dreams.
Turning our dreams into reality are what empower us, what creates our passions, and what define our version of the American Dream.

I think as adults our dream change. As we settle into the life that we have made we look for ways to make it better. Maybe it's that dream of marriage, kids, or visiting that one place, where ever it is, that would make us happy.
It's not that we stop, they are just different then when we are children. I think it's also because we have a sense of reality. As children, we tend to let our imagination dictate our dreams.
