When doing your online activities are you able to muti task? What I mean is if you use Firefox and you have the option to have different tabs up are you able to have many tabs up at once and go from one to the other without any problems? I have been doing this and I'm starting to get the hang of it but it's not easy.
Right now I have SlashMySearch forum, Yahoo mail, Associated Content, Mylot, Betlik, and Blogger party up at the same time. I have been going from one to the other and taking turns on posting, reading and rating articles on AC, checking my email and registering for Blogger Party. I know that sounds like a lot of stuff I'm trying to do but I'm trying to get everything done and it's just hard!
I'm thinking of splitting my time with all of my activities and work. Maybe write my articles first and get that out of the way and then reading and rating others. Then I will check my email, post in my blog and blogger party and then make a few posts in here, SlashMySearch forum and Betlik. This is the only way I think I'm going to be able to accomplish getting things done.
I am constantly getting interrupted by someone calling and I have to log off so me or my husband can call them back and this takes up a lot of my time when I'm trying to get things done. We are planning on getting a second phone line since we don't have access to DSL or Broadband and we can't afford internet by satellite. Anyway if you have a lot of things you need to get done online how do you accomplish this? Maybe some of you have some tips for me to help me get things done easier. Thanks and sorry this is so long but I have a bad habit of rambling on, lol. :)

I am not a good one with multi tasking skills. I can not do seperate things at the same time. The only thing that is opened right now is my outlook mailbox. All the other things/sites besides of the My Lot that I am working on right now, have to stay closed. I need to focus on one thing at a time. Maybe that is not so efficient. But it gives me more rest and peace in my head. When I have finished the My Lot work I wanted to accomplish, I go back to my outlook mail inbox to see what happened over there. I think multi tasking is great for people who can manage that all together. But to get some peace of mind I suggest you should do 1 thing at a time and do that 1 thing thoroughly.

I see your point. Some people can't do more than one thing at a time and it is easier and better for them to focus on one thing. But I have learned to do more than one thing at a time because with my limited time I had to learn. I have so many things I do on and off line and in order to get things done this is the way I have to do it. So what I do is post a few posts on here then I switch over to the next thing I have up then so on and so on until I have accomplished what I needed for the day. But when I am working on my articles for Associated Content I can't work on other things at the same time. I have to have 100 % concentration when I am writing articles because they need to be good enough to get paid for them. But when it comes to email and posting I multi task. Thanks for responding. :)

I cannot do that. I don't my way around the internet. I don't really know why. I wonder whether age has to do with this or maybe it is because, I am just too slow to catch up with how the computer and the internet totally work. My children browse through, or surf whatever is proper, the internet a lot. Until now, I am comfortable enough doing postings in mylot only.

I don't know if age has anything to do with it. I think once you get used to exploring more of the internet you will find it easier to do. When my husband and I first started online we didn't know what we were doing but we taught ourselves just by exploring everything online. My husband still has problems where I have to help him but he doesn't do as much on here as I do. The only thing he does is check his email and play eucher on yahoo games in the morning.
I think kids know more about the internet than we adults do anyway. Kids are so much smarter nowdays than we were when we were kids. Thanks for responding. :)

Yes, I always have 3 or more tabs up and check my email as well. I have dial up as well and DSL is not yet available in my area either. We were going to get another phone line, but it actually cost less to get a cell phone. I turn on my cell phone everytime I go online. If someone is trying to reach me, they call me on my cell, I look at the phone number on the screen and then I get off the net to call them back on our landline phone. It's working out well. Friends and family were getting frustated with me because they could never get a hold of me.
I too am on Associated Content, Gather, Friendster and MyLot. I also do online surveys, so I need to check my email everyday. I can't wait to get DSL in my area, but for now the cell phone works out well.

Right now I have 6 tabs up and I'm getting the hang of it. We're finally getting a second phone line next Wednesday. My husband called the phone company the other day and got everything set up for next week. I would do the cell phone thing but we can't even get a signal where we live. So no DSL or cell phone here. Verizon has said over and over again that they are working on getting their DSL in our area but it still hasn't happened yet. I don't think they ever will.
So after next week I won't have to log off every time someone calls. I get so irritated when I'm in the middle of something and someone calls. My husband can't wait to get our second phone line either so he can be on the phone with his mom and brother more while I'm online. It's going to be a little more expensive but it will be worth it. Thanks for responding. :)

Hats off to you if you are doing all that without broadband!! I am in a similar position to you, I have so many paid posts to make every day, plus administering my websites and keeping up with email that I can end up with dozens of tabs open at the same time. I am now keeping a spreadsheet of my daily activities (and earnings) to avoid missing anything. If you want a copy just let me know - could save you a few minutes' work

Yes that would be very helpful. Thanks a lot for offering your help. It is so hard to get things done online that I am up until 1:30 in the morning on the computer. And I still wasn't able to get everything done that I wanted. I guess I shouldn't have tried to take on so much at one time but when it comes to something that can make me money like writing articles, posting reviews and posting on forums I have a bad habit of wanting to do it. Then the fact that someone calls while I'm trying to do something and I have to log off it is getting more and more annoying everyday. I can't wait until we get a second phone line. But yeah please send me a copy to clarissa@cwilson.ws and thanks for responding. :)

Yes I love tabs. :) If I have a whole lot of websites up like if I'm working, I'll have numerous windows up and numerous tabs sorted underneath them. Right now I just have one window up containing 5 tabs: Yahoo Mail, my blog directory, myLot, a blog, and search results. :) However, it's a bit confusing, because today I've probably signed up for 10 different websites to earn money online, just to look at them, and they're all mixed and jumbled up in my head. I guess I need some sorting to do, too! :P

Yes it is a bit confusing but I think I have the hang of it now. I am finally more organized with everything I do online and starting to get caught up more. I am still a little backed up with my yahoo mail because I don't use it as much as I do my main email. This is what I love about Firefox though because you can have all of those tabs up at once.
I still have some sorting to do too because I also have a ton of work to do offline that I will be starting on soon. It is a little hard to get things done online when you have so much to do online but I think I have learned the art of multi tasking so it will all get done sooner or later, lol. Thanks for responding. :)

Yeah it does take some effort. I am going to keep doing it and I know that I will get the hang of it sooner or later. Even with splitting my time with my activities and work I am still going to be multi tasking because when I'm posting in forums I will have all three that I post in up at the same time.
That is amazing that you can carry on a conversation with two people at the same time. I don't think I could do that. When my husband and I are with my parents my mom and I are talking at the same time my husband and father are talking and I find it hard to concentrate on what my mom is saying because of it. That is most likely because my dad talks really loud and it seems like he is talking over my mom and me. Thanks for responding. :)
