Do you mind if you are eating alone?

From one of the episodes of Prison Break that I watched, one dialogue there said that "there is nonthing worse than eating alone." Do you think there is truth to this? The man who said that seems to make eating alone depressing. But for me I don't mind. I eat alone here in the office because our break hours do not coincide with each other or sometimes in the mall I do eat alone too. To me eating alone is relaxing as I don't have to converse with anyone while eating so that means I could enjoy the food I am eating more. Plus it's just nice to just sit somewhere and no one bothers me.

I don't mind eating alone. Having lived on my own for almost 7 years, I'm used to eating by myself. I don't go out to restaurants on my own unless I'm at the office and needing a quick bite or else I just do a take-away.
I find that at home, if I'm alone, when I eat, it's normally something light, and doesn't take too long to cook.
Otherwise I enjoy cooking a full meal when I have company for lunch / dinner. That's when I tend to eat slower and just enjoy the meal :)

I don't mind eating alone as long as I don't start having conversations with myself. If they occur out loud, I must immediately get around other people or get the kids from day care. :)
Seriously, there are times when I prefer eating alone and other times not. Just depends on the mood and whats happening in life at that particular moment.

I can tell you that eating alone doesn't do you much harm. Sometimes it can be lonely if you out on a board or something. You probably will feel a bit lonely if you are sort of like a person who likes to social a lot. For me, it's not the case. It's probably better you can sit back and enjoy your food at your own privacy, you don't have to show much manners, do you?

Oh yes I totally can relate. I like eating KFC fried chicken until the bones no longer have meat on them that will take a lot of hand work :) no hassle with that if I am alone.

I dont think its the worse thing ever... I would not want to eat alone all the time but on certain occasions, I do eat alone. I guess some people they feel like they are such loners or they dont have anyone who would want to eat with them so they dread eating alone. But I personally dont mind eating alone either at home or in restaurants. I like to watch people anyway and also to enjoy the food and take my sweet time.

I don't. But I know a lot of people who do. Most of them say that its really lonely, and that they would rather starve than eat alone, in the office or in a crowded place.
Personally, I don't mind eating alone. Like you, I find it relaxing, and I like to be left alone with my thoughts time and again. If it was on a mall, I just amuse myself observing other people. There's absolutely nothing depressing in that.

For me eating alone is not worse. If your not used to it then maybe it's hard for you. If you grow in the family that eating together is a must then maybe its a worse thing for you. God bless.

I don't think eating alone is the worst that could happen to me. I've eaten alone, several times in fact, and I didn't mind it much. There are times when I prefer being alone, so I can have time to think. And, when I do have company, it makes me appreciate them more.

I would prefer to dine with someone close to me such as my family. Eating time in our family is very important. It is a time that we share together where we relax and just talk freely about our day or anything for that matter. Everyone I think should instill that with their families. A very good way to just bond as a family in the simplest way.

It's different when you are in the office and you have no choice but to eat alone because your schedules does not coincide with your officemates. And I strongly agree that sometimes we need to be alone for us to be able to think more. But when you go home and you still have to eat alone that is kinda lonely. It's like going to a house that is empty. I've experienced that for a month and most of the time I didn't feel like eating. I could not enjoy the food because I miss having someone to talk to and share the events of my days (especially the bad ones).

I totally agree with you! I even just created a discussion on this.hehe
I don't think eating alone is the worse thing that can happen to anyone. Well, it's not the worse thing for me... not even close to bad. But my view wasn't always like this.hehe I used to feel embarrassed for the person who I'd see is eating alone. I was ashamed when I had my first "alone" meal time. But as the year go by, I prefer to be alone and enjoy my food.

Before I retired I used to enjoy eating alone. By the time that lunch came around I was so tired that I just wanted to eat and to relax. Now I think it is very depressing to to be by myself and to eat alone.

I'm quite sad when eating alone. While I have family members around why should I eat alone? I really have to eat with somebody. If I had to, I will go faraway from others. I think I won't be able to eat alone. Felt something missing and I felt lost! Eating with other members are most important communication we can reach throughout the day. Share all matters and we will eat with joy ;). That's my opinion. Thanks.

I really don't mind eating alone, however, it is more fun eat with someone. It makes the food more delicious. And it is to discuss things in the dining table.

Nope, nothing at all wrong with it. I have ate alone many a night and day when my husband was deployed. I've been to several restaurants too and saw people eating alone and reading a book or whatknot.
