Alright, just to clear it up I do believe in god, but proving the existence of god, always makes an interesting discussion. So do you believe in god and if so what is your reasoning? also, what religion are you? (just so i can get an idea)

i attended a philosophy class about 5 years ago and our professor was bent on proving that God doesnt exist. he's an aetheist. that's nothing new in our university, its democracy to the highest level there. that professor is also good at what he does and he doesnt go around converting people its just that during that class period he wanted us to debate with him. anyway, we were discussing God one day and my professor said that truth lies on empirical data or something that can be seen, a classmate of mine got so frustrated so he said "Sir I can't see your brain so does it mean you don't have a brain?"
That was a funny one but of course it really doesn't prove that God exists. i had been in one of those ruts before, where i failed in my faith. but now i believe that there is a God. first of all there really is not much choice. if you believe in God and you follow the good path, you live a good life, you have more friends, you dont hurt other people etc etc, and you have something to look forward to when you die. if you dont believe in God, half the time you are lost, you dont find meaning in life, you ask more questions than you need to, you hurt a lot of people's feelings and in the end you hurt yourself as well. so it really has more pros to believe in God. you become a better and more fulfilled person.
it doesnt matter what God you believe in, what name you call your God, what form your God takes, as long as you have a God. allah, jesus, ganesh, bathala. with all the languages and dialects we have God would inevitably have different names.
as long as you believe that there is someone bigger than you and everyone else that you are accountable to, then that is God.

firstly i believe in god but science says that there is nothing like this.but some times u will observe that some time when we are in any problem and we got the solution of that so we says that THANKS GOD.even before starting any experiment a scientist first pray to god to his success, even he knows that what science says about god.this proves that god is in your self in your mind ,in your heart.when u will be in some problem only one pray to god by heart he will definitely help you.

I'm a Christian and I guess I'll be one of the first one to respond although it might be lengthy....
Imagine you are looking at a beautiful painting. How do you know the painting exists? Next, gaze at the skyscraper. Again, how do you know it exists? How about that fancy car over there? HOw do you know it exits?
Any logical human being would look at those things and go, "They exist because they were made. They have a maker." So it is with God. Creation all around us proves that there is a creator.
Most people don't want to acknowledge this or want to make up excuses like evolution (which was disproved by Darwin himself--but makes no matter due to what I will say momementarily), because if people came to grips that an Almighty, HOLY, PERFECT, God exists, then they have a creator. Then that also means they would have start listening to their consciences and knowing deep down inside they have been breaking the 10 commandments either in spirit or deed and thus one day when they die, actually have to be held accountable unto that same HOLY, Perfect God who can't even look upon sin.
Once people come to grips with that, then Jesus makes perfect sense. JEsus was the only one who was perfect, who chose to go the cross for us. He didn't have to, but He did becuase He knew that His sacrifice would make it possible for justice that God demands to be satisfied and yet mercy for us and everlasting life for all who put their faith in Jesus to make them their Lord and Savior...
Thats why it says, "For God so loved the world..." because He is a HOLY God, His very nature demands that crimes be brought to justice or He wouldn't be a good judge. Jesus took care of that and now we are free to accept that gift.
So thats how I know in a nutshell. :)
