Recently, the leading newspaper in Singapore, The Straits Times, launched a site www.stomp.com.sg to allow people journalism. This means that any member of the public can now be a reporter and report on happenings anywhere in the world.
Just browse around the site (initial loading may be slow) and check out especially the "Singapore Seen" session. Many people have been "caught in the act" and if they were given a choice, I am quite sure that they will not want to be featured.
What is your take on this? Do you feel that this site is actually encouraging the infringing of privacy of people? How would you feel if you happen to be someone who is featured there? FYI, I reiterate that the "content" is not restricted to this island nation only. No matter where you are, if you happen to be in public and someone decides to snap your photo and send it in, you will be IN.
That's it, it's that simple, you are forever given a place on the internet. You do not even need to strictly do any right or wrong thing.
Do voice out your thoughts and share your take on this.

It's not only something happening in Singapore. Actually, since blogging was created everybody can become a potential journalist, understanding this term as someone who is able to write with correction enough to be published about something interesting enough to be read, or about something which in anyway affects people, such as traffic affairs, taxes, and so on.

There is one big difference between a normal blog and this website. The latter is like the blogs of a million people put together. More people will also visit it. You see the significance...?

I definitely do. Web traffic, free publicity, money, money, money. As far as privacy is concerned, it is obviously a crazy attack, I think I agree with you in the fact taht whoever might be managing that web page should take care of what they are making public. But hey, they need some ethics to do that, and when money is concerned, there are many times in which ethics disappear.-

I had an odd situation once, I often post and share about my dreams and visions in predicting train wrecks and derailments.... and well... I also share news articles with my railroad group too. We had a strange mix up a couple of times where part of my predictions made mainstream news reporting a couple of incidents before they happened, and my friends posted the articles to me all upset about this.. me.. I could care less.. but it did show the journalists were not very creditable if they were taking my articles off my yahoogroup and publishing them as actual news.. DUH! ... But then it was weird as the real train wreck happened, but because my prediction was right the story was already report before it happened, and then went un reported... Take about a straaaaange situation lol...
So I started a new blog to post railroad news articles links there so that people do not get my predictions mixed up with actual news anymore :) . - DNatureofDTrain
