Exams are fairly useful tools. They encourage consolidation of knowledge and actual understanding. A take-home or open-book test could be realistically done simply through knowing how to research, and knowing nothing about the topic. However when you are faced with having a variety of questions on a topic it is required that one knows and understands, and can apply, the topic. However, I find this to be only one skill, and I think it shouldn't be weighted as heavily as it is now. Perhaps 30% instead of the usual 50%?

Yes, he did. Even though he may not have spent a great deal of time studying it, this was required knowledge.

in my home town, good education is an expensive matter. you have money, you will get a good one. if you don't you just got ordanary education.
So, I think I shall put my next kid to other countries so they will get good education. But, what will we get after they graduate???
