Im a Filipino national and my boyfriend is a UK Citizen. We are different colors and I am intending to settle in the UK after we are married. My boyfriend says there are some racist people in UK. Are there any other couples out there with similar situations and have you experienced any prejudice or racist remarks? As my boyfriend is concerned about it.

Honestly if you love each other, you just have to learn to deal with it. Stay away from people in your life who can't accept it, and stay close with those who can. I could say I'm in a similar situation. My dad was born into a culture where they only married others of their same culture. He married my mom who is not even close to the same culture. My fiance is nowhere near that culture also. My dad's side of the family doesn't really seem to like the fact that my dad and my siblings and I all married outside the culture, but we could care less what they think. They aren't mean to us or anything, but you can just tell that we live counter to their beliefs. Really what does it matter to them? The way I see it, the more we intermix, the less racism there can be because eventually no one will be "pure breed" anymore than no one can be racist :) That vision is still a long way away but I'd like to think people like you and me mixing it up a little is helping! So to repeat - stay away from anyone who is racist towards either of you, they aren't even worth your time. Don't get angry at racist people, just ignore them.
