Hi, I love cooking, I have a knack for soups and stews, and I'm looking to put together a hearty vegetable soup without using any tomatoes, because, basically, I hate tomatoes.
I don't have any particular aversion to any other vegetables, and I could probably easily come up with something decent, but I figured I'd let the good community here at MyLot offer a few suggestions.

I too hate tomatos and can't stand them in my soup. But when I make a vegetable soup, I use a 32 oz V8 juice as the basis and add, can't remember the exact amount, water as well. I think maybe 4 cups. Since V8 juice is not all tomatos and the water helps tone it down, I can stomach it just fine.
And then I add other veggies such as mushrooms, carrots, onions and whatever I feel like.

the vegetable soup i make i put tomatoes in but you dont have to. i just put a beef roast in a pot, boil it for a few hours to make the broth, add veggies, and simmer a few more hours. also as a filler i add a head of cabbage but that too is optional. the spices are salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika. also add 2 beef bullion cubes when you put the roast in.
