although im too think your pc's socket was loose..
however,i suggest that maybe you could re-setup the driver of your mouse if it has a driver program. If it doesnt work yet, i think you have to buy a brand new one which has a USB socket instead of PS-2.

There may be reasons for this:
1) If your mouse has track ball, then there may be some dust gathered on its rollers, clean that it will be ok.
2) If your mouse is optical, then there is a one reason that your mouse sensor got damage or malfunctioning. In this case you have two option:
a)either go for new one
or
b) Get old one repaired from technician.

If you clean it and that does not fix the issue, you may want to make sure you have the most up to date driver for your mouse.

I think u should first try it on other computer and if the problem still there then mouse cord is damaged...if not then i think u should check ur computers port it must be damaged!!!

If its got a ball on the bottom its probably dirty, just take the ball out and scrap off the dirt from the little wheels with your nail or something that will fit in there. That should do the trick. mice are pretty cheap to buy, i got mine for 5$ at a computer store and its a lazer mouse, so if that doesn't work just pick up a new one.

Can it be that the socket is loose?
