my son is usually a sweet, smiling, well behaved baby. until he gets around his great grand mother. he will smile and laugh at anyone. but as soon he sees his granny he stops smiling, want look at her, clings to me like lint on your best shirt. if she ever looks at him he screams. i really need some advice. Is this natural, normal, or what. can i do something about it? i have 3 other kids and i have never had this problem.

One of my female cousins used to scream when she was a baby, every time she saw our uncle, who has a really bushy beard. As she got older, she grew out of it.
My daughter used to cry every time my sister held her, but has no problem with her now. (I think my sister was really overdoing the perfume, and my daughter was very sensitive to it).
I think there is obviously something about your great-grandmother that the baby is uncertain of. It could be an odor, it could be the fabric she wears, it could be the sound of her voice. He just may be overly sensitive to something about her. If you can figure out what that is, perhaps you'll figure out how to calm him down.

We use to think that my son was terrified of his grandma, acted pretty much the same way, then as he got older and was around others as well, we noticed his shying away from others as well, It wasn't until he was about 7months old that we able to make the connection between those he seemed to dislike... He comes from a smoke-free home, but the ones he didn't like to be held by, were all smokers, and still to this day (he's 5) he says he hates the smell, of theses smokers....maybe it's not fear but actually sensetive sniffers.
