Today I answered a discussion from one of my friends (and I hope she will jump in on this discussion to disclose herself). She is in terrible pain. She knows that she needs to exercise in order to ease the pain but the pain is so great she can't get motivated to exercise. I have put on some extra weight over the winter months and am starting to have indigestion that is going to lead to GERD again if I don't lose it. I'm ready to get fit again! I have copied -and am going to paste my response to her (first copy and paste on MyLot for me!). I hope that I will have some "takers". Copy and Paste Follows:

You can't do them (exercises) because you are in so much pain
and
You are in so much pain because you can't do them
The most simple way to start is in the evening or whenever you are sitting and watching television just begin by moving your head.
-First do about 5 chin to chest (or as close as you can),
-Back to start
-Then head back toward your back as far as you can - no pain
-Back to start
After you have completed those repetitions
Do 5 of the following:-Head in normal position
-Lower it as close to right shoulder as possible
-Head back to normal
-Lower it as close to left shoulder as possible
-Head back to normal
Following that TRY to do 5 repetitions of the following
STOP IMMEDIATELY if you get dizzy and do all of these while sitting.
Just do simple head rolls
-Start with head in normal position
Roll head down with chin to chest, around to left shoulder, around to back, around to right shoulder, around to chest.
Repeat as many times up to 5 as possible.
Just these simple exercises will get you started. Before you know it, we will be moving our arms while still sitting down. Are you in it with me? Are you ready to make some life changes? Are you committed? Will you start tonight or are you going to tell me, "I'll start next Monday". Whatever you choose, I will work the program with you.
If anyone else wants to begin to do some easy stretching let's get going. We can all do this until Monday and on Monday I will post the next add-on. Let me know who's in and who's out.~Donna

I am game! Hubby tells me that it would do me a world of good to get back to exercising. I have put it off for too long now. The last time I went to Curves was in December. Time to get my butt in gear. Better with a friend than alone.

You had to be the one to get the best response this time, as you were the inspiration for "The Movement!" ~Donna

I know exactly how your friend feels - I have rheumatoid arthritis and other conditions and I need to lose weight to reduce the chronic pain I am in...I have lost some weight...it is a vicious cycle and I could use the support of some fellow people online!
Oh shoot...I can't copy and paste as of yet!

Yes there are a lot of simple exercises we can do when we are suffering pain.I will be in it I think it is great to do any exercise even the doctor told me simple exercises first when I was in so much pain but that was to do with my feet as they were swollen and I could not walk for exercise at that time, that was in mid December, but now I can go for a walk exercising but you have to start somewhere you cannot just do nothing and expect solutions this way.

I am in! I would love to have workout buddies. I can relate to being in too much pain to exercise. I like that the exercises that you have posted are ones that I can do!

I'm responding here because i'm so busy I haven't had time to look elsewhere.
Thanks for the best response Donna...:)
How's everyone going?
I've been doing my neck movements and have thrown in some shoulder rolls ... I've missed a couple of days or only half done the numbers. I've been getting wet in this lovely drought breaking rain and today I feel as tho a bus has hit me. Even my normal positions feel grossly exaggerated. I hurt and ache all over. I stayed uo late as well.
Don't know if it's the exercise or just the doing but my appetite has been somewhat reduced on several occasions.
I have to go somewhere today so will be limited in my time here. If there's a new thread perhaps someone can pm me? thanks in advance.
Hugs..

Woohoo! Donna, I feel motivated! Let's get moving!
I'll start tonight when I get home from work! I could always use more exercise. It's too cold out to do my walking, and I could use some stretches anyway.
No better time than the present to start for me, as there's going to be a blizzard here today. =p
