Before you post your own response to a discussion do you read all of the other responses that other people have posted to it?
I will only read the responses if there aren't too many, otherwise i will just read the first few and maybe scan down the responses for a page or two, and then post my reply. I think it would be impossible to read everyones responses on a discussion that has over 100 responses, and also i think reading those other responses might influence mine, and sometimes i prefer to state my oppinion without having heard anyone elses, so i know that what i've posted is a gut reaction, so to speak.

Usually if when I find a discussion that interests me and it already has a lot of replies. I will firstly take up my pen and paper and write out my reply to it, than after I am finished writing out my reply on paper I will read through all the replies that have already been posted. Than after I am done if I have more to add to my original reply I can add it once I get through typing out the reply I had written on paper. Sounds like a lot of work, but it helps me keep my thoughts in order and out first before I go off onto another train of thought.

it depends i don't go through all the message posted for the topic but if few are there then definately but it again it depends on the topic and the first few messages posted and the response by the person who starts the disccusion so i cann't really say but feels everyone might be doing the same

I tend to try and read as many of the responses as I can.
But yeah sometimes there are just to many and by the time you get to the end of it you have forgot exactly what you were going to reply with or you see that so many people have already said what you would have said that it seems kind of pointless.

i think we are a bit similar with the way we go about the discussions here. when there's a topic i find interesting, i scan through the responses. it's hard for me to read everything especially if it's more than a hundred. most of the time i just read the discussion topic and don't bother on reading other people's responses because i want to post the first thing that comes to my mind. the responses of others might just confuse me so what i often do is read them fter i have posted my own response.

I'll read the first couple of pages, (with my reply in my head) just to get an idea of what others are saying and to read any other comments add by the person who originally posted the discussion. And then add mine reply

I first read through all the responses on the first page before posting my own.I look mainly for comments added by the person posting the discussion so that i can get a better understanding of the discussion(just in case the person elaborates the topic further in the comments).
After posting my response,i will go ahead and read other responses and add comments were i can and maybe give positive ratings also.
