Anyone get heartburns/indigestion? I need your help understanding this.

I am fairly young and have been getting severe heartburns/indigestion (especially when I am sleeping). It is severly painful and has begun to interfere with my life. I have tried everything, including eating extremely early, but my problem still presists. Also, what kind of damage is this causing my body in the long run? How bad is this?

I have only just visited my GP with a similar problem. He gave me a prescription for Motilium 10mg tablets and also Protium 40mg tablets. You can buy Motilium over the counter in any pharmacy and you take on three time a day about 30 minutes before eating. If the symptons don't get any better after about three or four weeks then you should visit your GP and he will recommend something else.

I should have mentioned I am not going to take any medications at this point.
