Thank goodness this girl was able to ask for help...

I think that it's sad that a five year old girl should have to ask for help for her drunk parents, don't you? I was just looking at a news story about a 5 year old girl in China who was able to flag down a police car to get her help. Her family took a taxi home, but her parents were so drunk that they lay down on the ground immediately after getting out of the taxi. Thankfully the police were able to contact her neighbors, who looked after the girl for the night. This incident reminds me of one of the old 7th Heaven episodes where this single father was taking care of his 8 year old daughter. The father was so drunk that he didn't realize that his daughter went wandering the streets and one of the youngest camden kids came along and took her home. In the end the camdens had gotten involved together with there friend the police officer who threatened him that he had better let his mom take over custody for the time being or he will be a project of the social service Department.

Highly irresponsible parents, they deserve to be punished, what if the patrol car had not come, really sad for the little girl to be brought by these parents, hope they take this as a lesson and change

The child's uncle should have kept her with him and sent her parents home. The child would have been safer.

That is so sad that a child that age would have to flag a patrol car down for help! What kind of parents get so drunk that they laugh at their child when the child asks to be taken home? One would think that the parents would be addressed more than just being woken up and taken home while leaving the child in care of a neighbor.

That is so sad!! That parents could go out with their kids and get so drunk that they don't even make it into the house? That poor little girl...good thing the police know about it now though. That is terrible that people have kids and don't take care of them!!

That is really bad news and to this Day it annoys me how Parents can be so reckless to get in that State when they have a Child to look after, they should not be aloud to have the Children, this time they where lucky but anything could have happened to the little Girl. It makes me so angry. Ok People who like a drink fair do but MAKE SURE YOU ARE STILL ABLE TO LOOK AFTER YOUR cHILDREN AND KEEP THEM SAFE. Sorry Shywolf but this gets to me.

Well, someone did something right in teaching the child what's right and wrong. How sad for her though. Perhaps it was a one time thing? I have a feeling not though.

I'm led to believe that if she asked for help from a police officer that she's probably been in this position before. Who takes their daughter along when they're going out to get drunk? It's so sad! I have a memory of my dad being so drunk that he couldn't get up off the kitchen floor. My sister, who was three years older then me, had to help my mom get him off the floor and into bed. They almost left him on the floor for the night because he kept falling back down. I remember sitting on the counter crying because I had no idea what was happening to him. I decided then and there that my children would never see me drunk. My husband and I don't get drunk and so we've maintained that promise. I would hate to put my child in this situation and I think that this will effect this 5 year old girl for the rest of her life.

Its so sad when you hear something so disturbing like that. The poor child and she is only 5. She must have been scared out of her mind. I don't know what their laws are like there and how the parents will be charged or even if they have CPS but I'm sure they do. I hope there are other family members who can step in to help the little girl.

How irresponsible some parents be in this world. If you don't take care of a child why care to bring a child to this world. I hate this kind of people. Who knows how tough other situation may come for that poor child.

First off, what a very smart little girl. Wow in China they just send the parents home and such. You know if that was here, child protective services would have been getting that little girl that night. That's just plain sad the thought of BOTH parents so drunk neither thinking about the child. Heartfelt story. I bet that's going to be one little girl that probably won't drink when she get older that's for sure..

it's interesting this took place in china- I thought the asian people were very "proper" . It is indeed a very sad story; I am glad the girl was able to get help.

I feel bad for the little girl to have to see her parents like that. She did a very good job at alerting someone to help. She is a brave little girl. I'm glad that they found someone to watch over her. Hopefully they put her parents in jail for public intoxication.

I think they should have taken the girl from the parents, that was very irresponsible. Thank goodness she got help and has good neighbors.

Seems like child endangerment to me. Glad that the neighbors could do right by that child. Makes it better for me to know that it doesn't only happen here in the states. It is so disappointing to know that we are not the only ones since I thought other countries overall were better with their children. So sad.

They contacted her neighbours who looked after her for the night? Is that really getting help? The police should have taken the child and turned her over to protective services. I hope at the very least they followed up to make sure the parents don't make a habit of this. I have strict rules at my house. My husband is not allowed to drink when he is in charge of the children. When he drinks a lot he gets rough when he plays with them. He doesn't drink like he used to but it was pretty scary to watch.

it is good that the kid was intelligent enough to call for help.parents like these do not deserve to have a child.they ll not only spoil the child by behaving like this around the child.i dont think the child should live with such careless parents which can harm the future of the child.
