I am a member of the Libertarian party and would love to have a discussion with other Libertarians. Lately my commitment to Libertarian beliefs has strengthened quite a bit. I'm trying to get more involed and would love to know what other Libertarians are doing to help advance the cause.
For those of you who are not familiar with the Libertarian party, you can read more about it at http://www.lp.org .
Libertarians believe in, and pursue, personal freedom while maintaining personal responsibility. Libertarians strongly oppose any government interfering in their personal, family and business decisions. Essentially, we believe all Americans should be free to live their lives and pursue their interests as they see fit as long as they do no harm to another. In a nutshell, we are advocates for a smaller government, lower taxes and more freedom.

I have not officially joined the libertarina party. (I have never officially joined any party.) But, I highly advocate the party and agree with its ideals. Feel free to check out my other posts in the politics section.
Are there any thoughts/actions of the libertarian party that you do now or have in the past disagreed with?

In the past I have disagreed with some libertarian thought. At one time I thought some aspects were too idealistic but I have since come to the realization that *I* was the one being to idealistic to think that anything else besides libertarian thought would work. I am now onboard 100%.
Are there certain thoughts/actions that you disagree with?

If I was an American I'd be Libertarian. I am not an American, but I have American relatives who are Libertarians.

I'm glad to hear that you have American relatives who are Libertarian. Did you know that Canada has its very own libertarian party? Check it out:

I finally gave up on the Republican Party. I am now a member of the Libertarian party. I could not stomach John McCain as my candidate. I could not vote for him. I started looking around for a new candidate, and a party. I have always been a little(l) libertarian, but voted Republicans. I like Wayn Allen Root if Ron Paul does not cross over.

I think if I were in the USA I would definitely be a member but in the UK the broader movmnt is far more powerful than the actual people calling themselves Parties.
The Countryside Alliance and Forest the smokers rights group for example are providing a far stronger and credible voice of Liberty than any libertarian political organisation; and there are alrady many conservative and Liberal Mps describing themselves as libratrian.
I think that liberarian parties are often gelded by unwillingnss among some to fight on issues like Hunting and smoking which they do not identify and this is a mistake. In the UK for example there are 2 million foxhunting people and also potentially millions of smokers who would support a party who would restore their rights. It isn't about some philsophical soft anarchist v Laiisez faire conservative ideology any more we are being faced with Fascism with smoking and hunting bans and the UK countryside is burning with an anger that needs to be harnessed now.
I would like to see the US Libratrian party fight more on the smoking issue for example as an example of abuse of stat power over the individual.

I'm British, not American, but I am a member of the Libertarian Party in Britain, which has recently been set up. We've only got a triple figure membership at the moment, and not much money, but we are hoping to at least fight our first by-election soon. http://www.lpuk.org/

I've been trying to get involved too. Mostly by getting awareness out about the less than lovely ways things are heading with he whole 'BIG government, constantly involved in things' front..so I write on the web.
