I love my pc but I'd rather have a laptop?

I'm so torn over this. I love my pc. I like that it is in it's place on the desk in the corner of the dining room. I like the way the keyboard feels under my fingertips. All of my important pictures and information are stored in the black and silver tower, yet........
I find myself longing for a laptop. With a laptop, I could use a wifi connection at a coffee shop. I could post from bed if I needed to keep my feet elevated. I could watch tv and use my computer at the same time. I could take my laptop into the kitchen for quick recipe reference instead of having to run back and forth to the pc.
I'm really torn. Which do you have? Are there any features of a laptop that make it much better than a pc (other than portability)?

We have both laptop and desk top. But I really like my PC. I do prefer to use it always and my hubby use the laptop. I feel very comfortable at typing and all in my PC. I don't know why I am not good at laptop typing, it takes me long to type one line in the laptop. I only use the laptop when I am outside home or if sometime I am watching TV and also want to use the computer.
I will never stop to use my PC.

I don't think I could give up my PC either. I have everything set up the way I like and I know where everything I might ever need is stored.
I like Laptops but I prefer PC's. Laptops to me are just more popular because they're portable. They do basically the same job as a PC does, except you can now sirf in different places instead of just at home.
I don't get why I'd want to take the PC with me when I go out anywhere if I'm not a business person.
When I go out, it's to immerse myself in the "real world" as opposed to the "virtual world." In other words, I don't need a laptop. I can do everything I want at home.

I also have a pc and I want a laptop. The purposes are, I want to use my pc at home because it's more comfortable, especially for games, and also because of its bigger screen, while I want to use my laptop to work, and to travel, because I usually need a computer while travelling, and just like you, I want to be able to browser the internet in the mall too. So just have both and use for different reasons.

Laptops are so much more convenient, but a get a good one. Dell, Mac, Compaq, HP and Sony are fine, but don't get one with Celeron chip. They stink. Get Pentium chip or better or AMD chip.
Get a Toshiba if you can.

I m prefer laptop, but i only have pc desktop.
I think laptop beside easy and portable, it making us easy and to do what ever we need and what ever we want.
all of my data can safely stored on the laptop, and if anything to be add, just bring the laptop.
I think this day, laptop have the same technology, and even greater.

i've been on that same situation before, i love desktop pc but the portabilty of laptop make me think twice. in order for me to have both advantages i decided to have both laptop and desktop pc. aside from portability, laptop saves more energy than desktop pc. i use laptop primarily for all my important files and i bring my laptop wherever i want to relax. i use my pc when im doing graphics design works and playing pc games.
portablity and energy saving i think is just some of the advantages of a laptop over a desktop other than that pc still the best in terms of performance.

i have both..
this will depend on how you will use the computers.
if it's gaming, you're better off with the desktop.
laptops are more for business use. programs such sa ms word, excel, office stuff will work fine with laptops. only few laptops - the most expensive ones can compte with desktop graphics but it is just so impractical to buy a laptop twice the price of a desktop PC jsut so you can bring it to coffeeshops? :)
but if you're into business that requires showing some soft copies of images or documents to clients, then it's laptop you need.

I have a desktop...but my partner got a laptop 5 months ago.
And the first month, it was barely touched because he still used his desktop.
So then I started using it at night so I could sit in my bedroom while he was going to sleep with the rest of the house and type away on myLot.
Turns out now...I love the laptop over my desktop!!!!
I love being able to curl up on my futon in the sitting area in our room and type away! I love being able to curl up in bed and surf the net. It was very helpful when I broke my butt and could not get out of bed for a while!!!
I just have come to love the laptop better than my desktop!
I have even sat by the fireplace typing away one a cold night!

As my laptop means fun and large computers remind me of work, I prefer my laptop

I love my pc and from I have read it's very expensive to get a laptop. They do have cheap models but what they can actually do is very limited. So, I would suggest you really check the specs to make sure it's something that will fit your needs.
I want a laptop too! I do need to do anything fancy with it. I would just love to have the added convience of mobility. My 2 year old loves playing in the yard and I can't see her from the desktop computer. So, I miss out on getting a lot of my computer projects done so she can play.

yes i do have a laptop, and it certainly has a few more features than the PC. For example we can say the integration of camera, and many others.
But my friend havein a laptop can also be dangerous as people get addicted to it,as u said u wud watch tv, work on a kitchen, take it to cofee shop ,it really sucks into an addiction, but if u need to be portable with ur PC, u shud buy one.
Best luck, cheers

There's really not a big difference between the two.I use a laptop personally. The portability just comes in handy.I can sit anywhere I choose. But with the pc,you have to sit in one spot.I actually use my cellphone as a modem from time to time. This really comes in handy.I don't have to use a wifi connection.

I have both computer and a laptop for the same reason. Both are from HP and both have tons of space so I can cram it full of whatever. It isn't a bad thing to have both. You can do more and not suffer the loss of one function.

I've got both. The laptop was always a dream of mine, but I've discovered that while it is nice for portability, it is harder to type til you learn the new layout -- you seem to hit more wrong keys and you can not rest your wrist anywhere near the laptop or you'll be hitting something for sure.
Also, you need to be near a plug if you are on it for long as the battery will run down within a couple hours.
It is great on a car trip for the kids to watch a full size movie screen; Also most hotels have free internet access so you can connect wherever you go.
You may have to add memory as they usually do not come with quite enough if you are going to be downloading or saving lots of items.
I usually use the PC as I can sit in my chair at a desk, but occasionally when there is something on tv and I want to be in the recliner, it is nice to plop the laptop in my lap and I can browse/type and watch a show in a more comfortable chair.
You can get a good laptop for under 800 dollars thesedays which is nice. Just get the warranty! I've had to send mine back 2 times for hardware issues. Even the computer guy at the store told me he bought a Sony and had to send it back 5 times last year. I just don't think they are as sturdy as a PC and they run on the fussy side lots of time.
Hope you do get one -- I'm sure you will enjoy it!

why don't you keep you pc and get a laptop too.
it's true both have their positive points.
but if we talk about performance... a pc is far better than a laptop.
it depends of what you really want

I really like pc! If I need to exchange some of the parts of it it's really easy! Just open it and you good to go.You can't do that with laptops.
But in aspects of performance laptops now are as good as pc. And the only thing I can see that makes laptops better is the portability.

I would prefer a laptop over a pc. Because laptop do not take up that much space. You can take it whereever you want. But right now i have a pc because i built this once i get the money i want to a laptop that has the internet on it. Because at least i could sit in front of the tv and be talking or typing.

I actually have both a pc and a laptop. Personally, I believe that the laptop is better, it is portable and doesnt take up as much space as a pc. Pc's are nice for some things, but when you are just checking email, instant messaging or going onto a few sites, laptops are a better choice.
