I was kinda bothered when my girlfriend sent me some text messages saying she can't sleep no matter how hard she tries to. I told her to get a glass of warm milk, maybe it would work..She did, but still she can't sleep...I really felt sorry and worried for her, but I don't know what else to do. Then hours later, she told she just had to do some stuffs like doing the laundry because she'd feel crazy lying in bed and can't sleep... does this ever happen to you? having a hard time to sleep? what did you do? please advise so the next my girlfriend or i myself experience this, I already have an idea what to do...please

I usually keep a book beside my bed and if I can't sleep, I sit up and read it until I start falling asleep. If that fails, I get up and switch on my computer and browse the internet or play games. I am usually quite tired after an hour or so and then I fall asleep quite contented.

Indeed, reading a boring book usually works for me within minutes.

Its happened to me many times and the final solution is to read some good stuff for half an hour or more...
I tried it many times and I succeed in sleeping well.
One fact of this is waking up late or sleep in daytime for long...ask ur frnd not to sleep in daytime and wake up early...
Being tired is also necessary for good and early sleep...do some work in day which makes u tired...

First I don't do anything that might make me anxious right before ]going to bed..like writing bills! I take a warm shower and have a very light snack (if a growling stomach is bothering me!) I keep a sudoku book and crossword puzzle book in the nightstand drawer. If I am unable to sleep, I turn on the bedside light (not the harsh overhead light) and work on a sudoku and/or crossword puzzle. I find that after about 20 minutes my mind and my eyes are tired. I am usually able to sleep at this point! good luck!

Tell her to get some Lavender essential oil and an oil burner. She should put a few drops of oil into the burner, and top it up with Water, then light the tea light candle underneath it.
For maximum benefit, she needs to do this about an hour before she goes to bed. Burning the oil in her bedroom is a good idea - just make sure she blows the candle out before she goes to sleep.
Lavender is well known for helping people to sleep. She could also put a couple of drops on her pillow case. She does only need a couple of drops. Lavender has a strong scent.

I have terrible trouble trying to sleep and I don't want to go sleeping tablets, I recently went to a couple of healthfood shops and I have seen quite a few different things that claim they help bring sleep, so I thought everyone has opinions what is best but as everyone is different I thought one by one I am going to try them and hopefully one of them will be a goer for me....I am trying one at the moment but it doesn't seem to be working so when I have finished these I will try then next one....just maybe one will be right for me...

When I was unable to sleep, long ago I used to take a book and start reading. I win either way. By finishing the book or by falling asleep. But most of the time I would get sleepy and rush back to bed. But now I don't need to get a book. I have my computer and Internet. That is my present remedy for not being able to sleep.

Tell her to get a good massage. There are massage clinics around. Let her pick her choice. Then she has to see a chiropractor. The bones in our body must be realigned after some years of living in planet earth. You know, one of the effects of gravity in our body is getting our bones disaligned.

When I can't sleep, I do several things.
1) I try watching TV, and the most borign channels I can find.
2) I drink a glass of warm milk. Or a mug of warm chamomile tea.
3) I think about what's going to happen tomorrow. Weird as it sounds coz most people would be wide awake just thinking about it. But I get tired thinking about it so I get to sleep.
4) When I've exhausted the possibilities above, I simply close my eyes and try to listen to the quietness around me.
Luckily, one of these make me fall sound asleep.

I have this happen sometimes cause of my fibromyalgia. Most times I just go online and do something OR I do some kind of paper work (I always have some).
I don't take anything. I don't stay in bed cause I get more awake that way. It is best I get up and do something to tire my eyes.

I have such a problem. Homoeopathic medicines could help. But it should be a doctor's advice. I have neurosis. I can get very sleepy, but while lying in bed I think that I can't sleep, and as result I don't. Only a medicine can help me.

Coffee - drinking coffee, or any beverage with caffeine, in the afternoon or evening can leave you wide-awake at bedtime. The next day, you'll be sleepy, so you'll need coffee to wake you up, then you won't feel sleepy at the right time. Cut back.

tell her to read a book, coz for me personally when i cant sleep, i just grab a book and start reading, then she'll definitely fall asleep after 5 minutes or less...hehehe, and by the way tell her to pick the boring ones ok, coz if she read something that catches her interest she'll just end up finishing the whole book...lol

I have had a hard time sleeping my whole life. I haven't found anything that really works for me, but some people claim that a warm bath before bed, reading before bed, and not eating and not drinking within a few hours of bedtime help. Maybe these will help her. Good luck.

I get on Mylot and start reading and writing!
As much as I love this site, I find that there are some discussions that put me to sleep very quickly...
And when I am unable to find a really boring discussion, I write some responses to other people's discussions. Then I wait for the pennies to add up and when this is happening, invariably I become drowsy and end up heading back to bed.
