What do you think about Hybrid cars?

For my physics class I was reading about gasoline-electric hybrid cars and although I've heard of them before it made me really want to get one. They are a lot safer for the environment, use less gas, and the get up to 60 miles to the gallon. Do any of you have a hybrid car or have ever rode in one? Do you think that they are worth the cost? Do you think that in the future they will be more affordable?

Hybrids are terrible and are only to make you think you are helping the environment. They can't even pass a standard emissions test. They are more harmful than a hummer! http://thewatt.com/article-1070-nested-1-0.html

I would love to have a hybrid. I think USA car manufacurers have been stalling in making these cars for the US because the oil companies have decided to keep gouging the citizens, just like the pharmaceutical companies have. They have been making engines that will run on 3 kinds of fuel, IN South America, for quite some time now. Eventually the hybrids will become cheaper because the Japanese will flood the US market with them. The US auto makers will hold out and try to create the perception that the US cars are better, thus justifying the continued, artificially high price they want to charge us. I bet that within 5 years, hybrids from Japan will be THE market for cars in the USA.

Hybrid vehicles are the technology that should be availabe to everyone. It is easier on the environment and our pcoket books to operate. Have not ridden in or even been near one. They are costly at this time. I think again that they should be priced for everyone. If and when we get someone reasonable in the White House then it might be addressed for affordability for the masses. The oil companies will want to have a hand in this since they still want to sell fuel. My heart's desire is to drive a hybrid, they have SUV;s now so a Hummer H3 would be easy to make into a hybrid. I have a solar and wind powered house so this in my drive would help complete my contribution on tending to our one earth.

I think hybrid cars are important and certainly a worthy expense for people. I know it cost alot right now but it sure is worth the price considering the comfort and style you get plus the fact that you are helping the environment in being conscious and aware of what pollution from cars do to it. Hybrid cars are certainly one step forward to keeping our share in taking care of mother earth. I know its long overdue but i wish companies wont only think about how much money it will be and take advantage of those people who wants to be cost effective on gas but willing to buy expensive cars:P

I've a friend with that hybrid SUV. I loved it. If I hadn't needed a van back in 1999, I might've waited for something like that!
