Many a times i need to study but there a great match going on television which i do not want to miss. but at the same time i have to read the book.i usually do both the activities simultaneously. But most of the time i leave the book and concentrate on match.I have seen some people who can only study while listening music. What do you do??? Can you read that way.

I grew up studying that way. My brother and I use to drive my mom insane because we had to have the TV or radio on to study and she didn't understand why. Now that I am older, I don't need the background noise when I am studying or just reading for fun, but it doesn't distract me.

Reading while listening to music is fine. I like the background noise. And I do ok reading with the TV on, as long as I'm not trying to pay attention to the show. But it's nice to be able to sit and read while DH watches his shows. At least we're together and can chat during commercials if we want to.

I don't read while watching TV, but I do like to read while listening to music. Most of my stuff is instrumental, or not in English, so it's not a distraction.

I am the ultimate multi-tasker. I do read while I am watching TV or listening to music. I can get distracted, put the book down during commercials. I can also read while I'm on the computer waiting for pages to download, etc. I also write while I'm waiting for pages to download or while watching TV. There just aren't enough hours in the day so I find it necessary to do more than one thing at a time.

I can do it. Read while listening to music or watching tv. But then I'm great at multitasking.
The key's to not focus all your attention on one thing..to divide your attention as you can. Music and reading's slightly easier than watching tv and reading. But it is very possible if one puts their mind to it.

Literally, I think its impossible for you to read and watch tv at the same time because you use your eyes on both activities (not unless your happy listening to your tv ^-^). Either you stop reading when you watch or you stop watching when you read. But as for listening, there are some people who can manage listening to music and reading at the same time.
But as for me, my concentration tends to be divided to the activities that i do. For example, when i listen to music, i tend to not understand what i've read since the what i'm reading is different from what i am listening. So i prefer to do one activity at a time.
