It depends on the situation. Every situation is different. Do you have children? Is the wife able to work? Is there work available where you live? What kind of a job does the husband work? One cannot just answer a question like that without knowing the details.
I am in Ontario. I am the mother of two children. I have not worked in eleven years because I have fibromyalgia - a chronic pain, chronic fatigue neurological and immune disorder. My insurance company would not grant me disability but gave me a small lump sum payment. The government also denied me disability pension because I was only 35 at the time. We have been struggling for 11 years and every year is worse than the year before. I have tried to get part-time work to see if I can do it, but where I live you have to KNOW someone in order to get a job. There aren't a whole lot around here that I qualify for (secretarial). I live in a large town, large in population not industry, and all the secretarial jobs are held by people who will probably stay in them until they retire, and then will be taken over by someone they know.
There are no easy answers. If my husband was making big bucks as a doctor or lawyer it would not be a problem, but he is a factory worker. He makes good money but not enough to keep our family of four above water.

Hmmm...sounds like it's time for someone to get a job. You can always look into getting welfare until you can find yourself a job. Just keep in mind that welfare is supposed to be temporary for emergency situations. It's not supposed to become a lifestyle.

The husband must support the whole family if the wife is not working. Or you can ask to your husband to buy you this and that.
It is better to have the wife at home to nurse the kids and attend the needs of your husband when he gets home from work.

Since you obviously have a computer & internet connection, I can suggest a free game site that I'm with. It's really been helping with my grocery budget since it pays out in walmart cards. I've been there since August and have already earned $175 AND have already received (and spent LOL) 5 of the $25 cards. Since you're in Canada, you would be able to signup if you're interested. I have to warn you though, it's pretty addictive. :D

Yes, please give me the details. I need to make some money. I have been married 36 years and have two grown children that are out on their own. It looks like its divorce time but I don't know how to start without finances.
Thanking you in advance for the link or details of the free game.
