I love to spice up my food - salt and pepper are so bland and there are some really great spices and herbs out there to make those dishes really burst with flavor. My favorite spice is paprika. I love the extra zing - particularly if it is dark, dark red - making it extra hot. What's your favorite spice and why?

I add spice (and garlic) to almost everything I eat. I usually add loads fresh cillis -birds eye ones usually, sometime bottles of extremely spicy sause- such as colon blow, dried chillis or chilli powder. Im truly addicted.

I think it is cast iron, I dont really find things spicy anymore. I know there are some health benefit to eating chilli, however I eat so much of it Im sure it must be bad.

Oh dear! I wish I was there and I could teach you a few basics to cooking. I think noodles are fine - but you need more to eat than just that! :)

I think men, once they learn cooking - tend to be very excellent cooks. Especially if it becomes a hobby or interest.

Cinnamon is right up there for me as well. In fact, many times in stews and such I use paprika, cinnamon, and parsley. The combo works together nicely.

Garlic and rosemary are the two spices that I absolutely have to have in my kitchen. I normally grow my own rosemary and right now I have fresh garlic, a jar of minced garlic and garlic salt. They just add such a good flavour to everything. And the benefits are so good :)

Garlic is one of my personal favorities. I haven't used rosemary much. What do you use it in mainly?

Cayenne pepper is my favorite. My meal is not complete without it. Aside from stimulating my appetite I learned that cayenne helps in improving blood flow. Some compounds in cayenne increases the body's heat production thereby increasing the rate of metabolism especially for fats and carbohydrates. But sometimes I also control using it because I believe that anything that you take in excess has a side effect.

Cayenne pepper does have healing properties - as do many spices. It is also good for indigestion - despite many naysayers that think it should be avoided by those with ulcers or stomach upset. Moderation is a good idea - but as some spices (especially those used in curried dishes) have medicinal uses as well - it could be used more liberaly - especially for persons who are in need of it.

Well out here in India we have innumerable number of spices. The spices that are used in cooking change according to the region you are in. But we Bengalis are champions in using spices. My favourite spice is pepper. If you can use pepper in a proper way it gives great taste to the food.

As you know, I am a lover of Bangladeshi foods and by far the curries made by Bengalis is the very best! Perhaps I am just a bit in favor that direction. Spices used in curries are not only delicious but are also excellent for the health.

I like garlic powder - but avoid the salt. I try to avoid salt products to keep my blood pressure in check.

Oh My! *Blush* I guess I am out of the loop on that one! I have never really looked at the Spice Girls - or paid much attention to them in the media. I have a love for a bit of the more older - classic rock music. Give me Van Morrison any day of the week!

I have never heard of this spice before. What do you use it in and what does it taste like?

Saffron is my favorite.. I've only ever bought it once since it is fairly pricy, but add a little to some rice and it makes an amazing rice dish...
My normal favorite that I use often is chillies and curry. I love making a nice chicken Thai curry.. and the hotter the better! And if you have this with the saffron rice... it becomes amazing!

I also like curries - mainly from the Indian sub-continent - I do love Thai food - as well. Saffron is an amazing herb. It actually grows in Minnesota. I agree it is expensive - a little goes a long way - and it is one of those herbs you use for "special occasions."
