Credit checks for jobs

Who think that if a job does not hire someone due to credit is discrimination? I think it is because yes maybe you will work with money but having bad credit does not mean you are going to take money from the employer and people that have bad credit sometimes just need a job to get money to pay bills. I have heard of some employers who do credit checks, so what are your thoughts about this?

I think typically, credit checks are only conducted if the job concerned is in a sensitive industry or job opening. It may seem unfair to someone who has a bad credit rating yet is perfectly honest, but who is to know? The boss won't know and unless you have a reference that he can trust, he is not going to believe. Would you believe if Satan comes to you and say he is actually God? And it is rather understandable (though not compassionate :P) why bosses need to conduct these checks. Though someone with a good rating does not necessary mean he is honest, someone with a bad rating is more liable to be dishonest since he needs the money. When an opportunity (illegal) presents itself, he might simply succumb to the temptation and run away with the money. For those who have a bad rating, take heart. Keep looking and there is always a job out there that you can still get. ;-)

That is a good response and very good analogy too. Thank you for the response.
