Ya. U are right.It is being given much preference in India.It is being given because it is such a supporb game than any other.

then what about soccer. Soccer's the best and has more prominence than any other sport in the world

yes, i agree because now more than 75% children play cricket and the chances of them into the team is less than 1%, and because of it, we are lagging behind in other sports like football, etc. or even athletics.
