Pregnancy Hormones and at Home Treatments

I am about 8 months pregnant and I just developed an external hemorrhoid yesterday. It's extremely tender, painful to a point, and it's difficult to sit down. I am going to call my OB/GYN but I also want to know so good home treatments to use to reduce and eliminate this little "pain in the butt".
