Is it me or have the chocolate bars gotten smaller over the years?
I remember when I was a kid going into the local sweet shop with my pocket money to buy a choclate bar. But now when I look at them I think they used to be much bigger than this.
The original wagon wheels were much larger then they are now, and Curly Wurly's disappeared for a while but when they came back they had shrunk. Even the Mars bars and snickers have shrunk.
Has anyone else noticed this? or perhaps because I'm wishing for a huge chocolate bar.

20p is about 4.5cents at present, so its about the same as what you say, its true for crisps aswell although I don't eat them know so I never look at the prices!

I'm not sure what that translates to in Canadian cents, but "when I was a kid..." we could get two sizes of chocolate bars: 5¢ and 10¢ ones. The same with bags of potato chips (crisps). We usually got the 5¢ ones as the 10¢ ones were "too big".

Yes chocolate bars are getting smaller, this is done to save them putting the prices up. They reduce the size of the bar as they believe it will not be as noticeable as a price rise. Another scam to watch out for is when they change to a new label it is not only the label that is changed but also the price. this happens a lot to your regular buys in supermarkets as well so watch out for that next time you shop.

Thats true, I also hate when they change the name of the product which also includes a price rise!

Nope, chocolate bars have definitely shrunk. When I think back to what was my Friday treat from my Dad, many years ago, he used to buy a single Mars bar and cut it equally into 5 pieces. The whole family would have a piece each, and it was always a large piece, you couldn't do that now.

Thats true,
We would get a Marathon -or Snickers as they are now- and cut it up into 5 pieces.
If he tried that now it would be easier to buy 5 bars instead of trying to cut 1. :)

I think it's the chocolate bars shrinking as opposed to us growing, I wouldn't mind so much but the price keeps going up too which is really taking the Micky. I remember the pieces of chocolate used to be thicker and more chunky I feel cheated when I bite into these new modern chocolate bars.

yes it used to take awhile to eat those chunky thick bars, but now the new smaller ones are gone before you know it :(

I agree, you wouldn't mind paying alittle more if the bar stayed the same size, but when the size decreases and the prices rise, we're being cheated !!

You're not alone. I think candybars have gotten smaller over the years, which is made doubly sad by the fact that the prices have certainly risen.
A dollar won't even buy you a candybar anymore (most are 1.09 at least) yet I remember as a kid that I could usually get two candybars with one dollar or at least a pack of gum and a candy bar. Not so anymore.
And the worst thing is I'm not that old either so this isn't a case of "back in my day".

Yes it seems that every couple of years or so the size shrinks and the prices rise.
