Many writings had been reporting stories of how people make money on Ebay. But I never try the service there. I know not much about the auctions in that platform. Recently I got two books about business on Ebay but they only give me some general ideas. I need actually more helpful suggestions. I got many old CDs, DVDs and I want to sell them through Ebay. Any of you know the tricks of opening business there please give me some advice. Or please tell me address of websites where I may get info about that.

Selling on eBay can be fairly daunting at times and there are alot of things to learn but they do come with selling. We've been selling on eBay since 1998 and have had a store front drop off service for the past 3 years.
Here are some suggestions and things to keep in mind.
1. If you are opening a new eBay account I would suggest buying at least 10 things before starting to sell anything. This will accomplish a couple of things, first you will have a better idea of what the buyer experiences that will help you write better listings and second it will start building up your feedback.
2. Use eBay to do your research on what you are selling. Once you have created an account you will be able to search completed auctions for the past 30 days to see what items have sold for 9or not sold at all) This will help you determine the level of risk you are willing to take and give you a real world idea of what your items will sell for. Just because a price guide says something is worth a certain amount does not mean you can expect to realize that price. eBay is your market and that is what ultimately determines the worth of your item being sold.
3. Keep in mind the eBay Fee Structure when deciding what to list and how much to start the auction at. You will be charged for every listing and you will get charged again if the item sells.
It has been our experience that items with lower starting bids do better than items with high starting bids or reserves. If the item has value it will usually achieve it but there are a number factors that may play into such as the sellers feedback score.
Also it seems that the lower starting bid auctions tend to get alot more bids because the initial barrier of entry is low for the buyer. There is also a psychological aspect to bidding where the buyer, once they have placed a bid, tends to have a feeling of ownership of the item when the auction is far from over. This may explain some of the bidding wars that we love to see:)
4. Take good pictures and fully describe everything about the item. The last thing you want to do is deal with customer complaints once the buyer receives the item. It will save alot of time in the long run and save alot of frustration.
5. Remember the golden rule - Treat others the way you would want to be treated. Whether you are selling full time or just trying to get rid of some extra stuff you have you need to treat this as a business and give great customer service.
6. Be prepared for shipping before you list the item. Make sure you have the necessary packing material and shipping items ready for that item and figure out how much it's going to cost to ship (or use the ebay shipping calculator in your auction). Timely shipping is important and leaves a great impression on the buyer
Hopefully that will be enough for now to think on but there are lots more. Here a couple of links to seller info on ebay in case you have not been there yet.

Oh, so there is a lot for me to consider before starting business on the online market of ebay. I think you have listed the most difficult parts: packing, promoting, shipping. As I don't have any retailing experience, I just don't know how to satisfy the would be customers.

Ebay offers tutorials directly on the site and I think the suggestions they provide are really helpful.

well first you need to open up a ebay account and that take pictures of the items you are trying to sell and also a paypal account to make sure you can pay ebay for selling your items and also a bank account with a debt or credit card. I have hadsome or my buyer senf me money orders to pay me. Now when you sell you go to the top on the left hand side to get going. I might not be giving the best advice but that is what I know.

Ok, I am a complete outsider on selling items on the internet. Your advice here is helpful. At least I know some details that I should take care of.

You would be well advised to read the eBay tutorials on their site before setting up your auction site. Selling on eBay is easy but I would recommend you start by buying a few small, cheap items, as a means of getting used to how it all works. This will also give you some feedback so when you come to sell your things, buyers will be able to judge the sort of person you are.
I can honestly say that I have had no problems with buying and selling on eBay and it is a very good way to sell on your things

Reseach what you are going to be seller. Do a completed listings search to see what the going price is. Be honest in your description, with a reasonable shipping and handling. I would wait to open an eBay store. First see how it goes with just listings. There is the community help boards. My favorite is the answer center. You can get plenty of answers fast. Read up on the how to's of selling, all can be found of the "help" button on the top of eBays page. Good luck.
