I want to know what everyone's all time favorite animal is and why. It could be a pet, a wild animal, or even a mythical creature.

You, my friend, do not have a flower or vegetable garden. Otherwise, you would realize how much of a pest rabbits can be. They will eat the petals off your flowers, and deposit wonderful "rabbit pellets" throughout your yard.

For me it's got to be the Superb Lyrebird (menura novaehollandiae), It is not called superb for nothing, it can mimic almost all kind of sounds from human sounds, cars, chainsaw, other birds, just to name a few. I guess it beats your all time favorite Amazon grey parrot for mimicking.

My favourite animal(s) are my lovely cats, we have four, two males and two females, they are part of the family, they give us so much love and companionship, they are very independent, like me and they are very very clean. They are truly beautiful creatures and if we had a bigger home we'd have many more. They are spoilt and by stroking a cat it actually lowers stress levels. Each of them has their own character.

Yes cats are great companions. They may be independent, but always seem to be around when you need them. Thanks for responding.

For me, my favorite animal changes every 5 or 6 years. As the native americans beleived that as we walk through life, we feel an affinity for certain animals who are meant to be our guides. We are supposed to learn something from them if we don't already share or value the animal's attributes. I used to be crazy over dolphins when I was a teenager, and then for awhile wolves, but now I am absolutely in love with the noble Penguin! I love the fact that they are flightless birds who make their home in remote arctic areas, they have families, and they work hard and play hard. I also love the dichotomy of how graceful they are underwater, and how awkward and funny they are above ground. I would love to have a penguin as a pet if they allowed it. :)
oh and p.s. I fell for penguins WAY before March of the Penguins and Happy Feet came out.

My favorite is the Arctic Snow Owl. I am partial to owls because, when I first met my husband, we were on opposite sides of the world. He was in the U.S., and I was in Singapore. When we corresponded and chatted with each other, there was a 14-hour time difference, so one of us was always up late. So, we gave each other the nickname of nightowls. Of all the owls, I just find the Arctic Snow Owl to be the most majestic and serene.
