Can someone tell me what Simon Cowell does?

I recognize him as a "celebrity" and watch him on American Idol, but what did he do before that show and what makes him qualified to be on the judge's panel as a music
critic? Thanks!

Well, thanks -- I just have such a PROBLEM with him being so darn rude. I don't think it's funny, cute, or anything in between. But I am glad to know that he's
educated and qualified and am at a loss to see why everyone likes him so much. I guess Idol is all I've ever seen him on. My mom taught me MANNERS and those singers are young, and laying their guts out on stage every week. They are all VERY talented, and as such I don't think they need to be insulted. Maybe he does it to see who can stand the pressure and still come out on top!

hi jbrowsin66! i find simon cowell a very interesting man & he intrigues me. this is what i know about him. his real name is Simon Phillip Cowell, a british artist and repertoire "A&R" executive for Sony BMG in the UK. aside from american idol, he is also a judge on television programs like Pop Idol, The X Factor, and Britain's Got Talent. He is known for combining activities in the television and music industries, having produced singles and records for various television characters like Power Rangers. surely he is notorious for his unsparingly blunt and often controversial criticism of the contestants but he definitely has an eye for a singing champ! i trust he is more than qualified for the job of being one of the judges..way better than Randy & Paula..Simon Cowell rocks!!
