choosing between love and friendship

Here's the situation, a man has a close friend which is a girl. They are so close to each other in a way that they treat other as brothers and sisters. As time goes by, the man started to fall in love with his close friend. He started missing her when she is not around. He cannot say his feelings to his friend because he don't want to lose her. What must the man choose between love and friendship? Which is more important?

I think he should take the chance as the girl mught feel the same. You never know. It was hard for me to tell my husband how I feklt but it all worked out and we have 3 kids and are very happy. If she is realy a true friend you will notm loose her either way.
