Did anyone have trouble understanding the film?

I had serious trouble understanding this film and i still dont understand the point of it. So many peopl have so many different opinions. I would love to hear yours and what you thought the film was about.

I was wondering why Frank even got Donnie out of bed to begin with the universe wouldn't be messed up if he didn't get out of bed to begin with

and also if he didnt get out of bed u wouldn't be killed by the moms plain engine because that was from the tangent universe.

I'm doing a project on Donnie Darko for school, since I love the film with a passion (seeing it at the Moonlight Cinema soon), it should be fairly easy :)

Danish you should really see it, it's a good flic. Yea this was a tough film to understand because there are so many layers to it. I mean I basically understood it to be time travel with a mix of fate, God and appreciating life while it's here in a nutshell.
