Of course, being a millionaire doesn't necessarily mean you have millions of dollars in cash lying around your mansion and stuffed in the glove box of your Ferrari. To determine someone's overall wealth, all their holdings are looked at, including investments, cash, furniture, baseball cards, ridiculously expensive automobiles, and real estate. However, a person's primary residence does not count toward the total.

I don't know specifically how many millionaires are in the US but I'm venturing a guess at well over a million. However to make a clarification to your discussion, at least here in the US a person's primary residence does contribute to a persons net worth. To come up with a persons net worth all of their assets are tallied up and their debts are subtracted from that, and that is how one determines what their net worth is. At least that's how the mortgage industry determines and also insurance companies. I will keep an eye out here as I'm curious to know how many millionaires live in the US. Interesting discussion. :)

Thank you for the best response. By the way did you have the exact number of millionaires here in the states? My curiosity has been peaked and I have checked back often. :)
