I'm wondering if there are some of you here who brush your tongue while you brush your teeth...personally, I'm not really used to it but a close friend of mine told me that if I wanted to have a real fresh breath then I need to brush my tongue as well every time I brush my teeth because that's the only way I can get rid of the bad bacteria present on my tongue. I got his point but the feeling when I do brush my tongue is just weird...maybe because I'm not used to it yet..lol what about you, are you used to brushing your tongue? Since when did you start doing that?

I brush my tongue too. It feels weird but it only takes a bit and it does give you a fresher mouth feeling. Ive done it for years.. If you're not into that, use mouthwash. It will work too.

I actually do brush my tongue, and have for as long as I remember. I can't remember how I came across the knowledge, but your tongue can be the reason for bad breath, as it holds bacteria in the crevices. It feels a big strange, even after all these years, but they say it's worth it! They even make tongue scrapers that you can use, but I would think just brushing when brushing your teeth would be good enough.
I actually found a helpful site that explains how to brush (or scrape) your tongue.

Actually, what you're friend told you is true. Because most of the germs that causes bad breath are sort of concentrated on our tongue, the white one's that you see when you look at the mirror.
I brush it everyday, when I wake up in the morning and before I sleep. I've been doing it for 5 years now, and it does help alot..

I am the same as many of the other posters, I brush my tongue when I brush my teeth and I have for years. I just don't remember when I started or why. I can only guess that my mouth was feeling yukky and brushing my tongue made my mouth feel cleaner and fresher.

I always brush my tongue. I used to do it with my old toothbrush and now I do it with the electric toothbrush. I also rinse with Plax before brushing once or twice a week and floss two or three times a week. It really makes a difference.
It might feel weird to brush your tongue but it's only a few seconds and does a lot of good.

Ever see that Tooth Brush commercial that states that 80% of the bacteria in your mouth are on your tounge and cheaks? I to brush my tounge and have for a long time...you'll get used to the feeling and it will become habit! Get one of those brushes with the tounge and cheak cleaner on the other side. Your mouth will fell wonderful after using that.

I do brush my tongue when I brush my teeth. I have since I was young, I guess I learned that when I learned to do it in general. I'm not sure if it really helps breath I think it does but I feel gross if I don't do it.

I don't know when I started doing it but I do. It is not uncommon. I know in India they use tongue scrapers so that would be like brushing your tongue.
It does take a bit of getting used to but it does get rid of the germs and the smellies.

What your friend said is absolutely right. There are a lot of germs and odour causing bacteria on the surface of our tongue. It helps to either brush it or use a tongue cleaner. I prefer to use a tongue cleaner. I've never had bad breath problem till recently and it wasn't because of decaying teeth. So I began to clean my tongue. Initially I used to gag and it was horrible. But now I'm used to it and do it anytime I feel like. Even after a meal which gets rid of strong odours which linger even after rinsing.

I don't brush my tongue with my toothbrush, i use a tongue scraper like you're supposed to. Apparently your tongue has loads of bacteria on it and if you brush it with your toothbrush the bacteria goes all on the brush and thus all on your teeth! Tongue scrapers are specifically designed to clean your tongue. They're cheap to buy and easy to use!
