married, divorced or separated people.
This topic was discussed last night on my school. I am on a research class and my instructor read an article from a newspapers stating that unmarried or single people die younger that married, divorced or separated people. The article stated the quote...
"It's better to love and get hurt than never love at all"...
Any views?

I don't believe this quacky stuff. I think it strictly depends on the individual. To say that married people are always happier and live longer than single people I think is very misleading. Any single/divorced or unattatched person can be just as happy and therefore live just as long as anyone else. There are many unhappy married people that shouldn't be together.
Just because a person isn't attatched or married makes little difference in my book. It depends on how the person feels about themselves. That is far more important, I think. These studies are useless and cause more misinformation and damage than they ever do any good. I am not against marriage, but in the US the divorce rate is over 50%...not a healthy situation.

I think what are they trying to imply in their research that unmarried or single people feel less loved that those who are in a relationship or been in a relationship. People who have loved and failed tend to be more stronger in life due to their life mistakes.
Thanks for the comment. I respect your opinion.

I can understand this really. If you have someone with you in love then you have someone to help support you in your worst times. If you're single you still get that but not on the level as a married couple does. Even if they are divorced or separated.
