as parent, do you want to enroll your kids in summer classes like martial arts, dance lessons, arts & crafts, cooking classes, voice or music lessons, swimming classes?

We are going on a holiday for the entire summer. If we were staying at home we would spend a lot of time at the beach, bike riding, going to the park, and messing about in the garden. My oldest usually does a camp or 2, but the little one likes to decompress from the school year and just hang out and play.

Our local rec center hosts a summer program for kids in town here. Actually 2 of them, one at a school up the hill and the other at my children's school. They have a couple of employee's who do various activities with the kids Monday-Friday from 9-12 and again from 1-3. We also have a couple of outdoor wading pools at the parks in town and again our rec center has trained lifeguards to watch the kids there on sunny days in the summer.
My kids take part in these free programs each summer along with many of their friends. They have so much fun. They have a different theme each week and actually teach the kids while they are doing the games and crafts around that theme.

We don't do any classes over the summer. We just hang out and do nothing most days. Take some trips to the park and leave life open to the chance my husband might get a few days off and we can go visit family or something. Last summer we spent 7 weeks at my dad's house helping him recover from heart surgery.

I would like to enroll my daughter in something so she isn't too bored but the things in my town are only for a week or two and really expensive. So I will be entertaining her the whole Summer =)
