It's election once again. the midterm elections in the philippines. And once again we are confronted with the perennial issue about the legitimacy and trustworthiness of our electoral process. Sadly, last year's election was fully decorated with allegations of cheating... wide spread cheating to favor the present administration. There were lots of move to uncover the truth behind it. But the administration won the fight through the tyranny of numbers. Hello Garci controversy didnt have a good closure. everything was not clear. the only thing that was clear is that administration tried so much to stop, deny and eliminate the moves to uncover it. So... what now? Do you people still believe in the electoral process? Is there hope?

Yes,there's always hope, If the politicians will stick to their promises and their platforms, why not!and besides,it depends on us who will we vote.If there's no buying votes, there would be no problem. That is why our choice is very important on the country's future.

It is interesting to hear the "man-on-the-street" say he will stand for his choice, whether or not someone hands him money. However, how will this choice be made? Yes, there is still hope. We will just have to work harder, even long before the election season starts. Education and information are crucial; and at the bottom of it all should be a solid base of values. A lot of miseducation and misinformation led us to this current state. We need to do a lot of undoing - from within school walls, public places, in media, and most importantly, from within our homes.

Those people who are occupying those national level elected positions are not doing much for the country. In fact, it is beyond my comprehension why they are willing to spend too many millions for a post which pays them only in some thousands in monthly salaries? It is high time that the Philippines adopts the Parliamentary Form of Government so we can achieve the Newly Industrialized Country (NIC) status that our current government is working on.

Oh yes it's election time once again and time for a lot of trash talk, character bashing of the candidates, yes a lot of streets closed to pave way for 'projects' of the upcoming candidates. Yes you are right, there are so many unresolved issues in our electoral process and so many questions regarding the upcoming elections. I believe there is still hope, we cannot stop believing that or else face a spineless society. There are still people who are working hard to clean philippine politics, it's not easy, but we'll get there, slowly but surely. This coming elections, I'm sure that there will still be cheating, maybe not that rampant, but the administration will still try to place their bets into positions, but I hope that thru the people's vigilance it will be minimized.

There is hope, my friend. And it stars with YOU and me... and our neighbors. Even Edison's idea of an electric light bulb was "quixotic", at that time. But any idea (or endeavor, or as the British would say: endeavour)has to start from somewhere. Are you ready? It's not about RANTING; it is about DOING.
