Why would you change your national anthem?

Would you want to change your country's national anthem if you had the chance? What modifications would you make to it? What is wrong with your countries current national anthem. Is it oudated, do you feel 'swelled-up' with pride when you hear, listen or sing it in public places? Would you slow down the tempo, or slow it up? I'm looking forward to opinions on this contentious issue.

Though I love the sound of the American Anthem because it sounds like the song Aud Lang Syne. I still prefer not to change the Philippine National Anthem because I grew up for 23 years with it. It was made by Philippines heroes and made with effort and love for the Philippine's independency so I won't dare to change any thing about it.

China - Whenever I hear the national anthem of my country, the image of our national flag pops up in my mind.
My idea about our anthem is it's just outdated and kinda boring. If I were allowed to recompose the melody of it, I would make more variation on the rhyme. The final masterpiece should be more like modern music with lively rhythm and catchy notes.

My country is Libya . Our national anthem is taken from a poem made by a Egyptian poet during a war between Egypt and Israel , UK and France . It is a great poem ,but it has got nothing to do with this country's history ,population , culture and identity in general . A national anthem should epitomize what makes us proud of OUR country rather than solidarity with a neighbouring Arab country .

I feel very proud of the Australians anthem but then I was as much proud of God Save The Queen, but if I had my way I would have Waltzing Matilda with a word change but I don't really think it matters as it is the country behind the song that I am proud of...

For sure i'd love to change the Aussie national anthem. I have the perfect one ,I think it's called "I still call Australia home" and it was written by one of the Seekers many years ago. It's a but more up tempo and I think describes how Australia is than the dirge we have now! lol

No, I don't think it's necessary to change it. As a Chinese national anthem, the music is very inspiring. Perhaps the words of the song is not very suitable for new situation because it was written nearly 70 years ago, but we will not forget the history our nation has experienced. When we hear or sing the anthem, we are full of pride and patriotism. Why change it?

I used to feel full of pride.. but I do not like the direction our country is heading... As far as the National Anthen Changing it from the Star Spangled Banner to America the Beautiful I think would be good... Just better than singing about Bombs Bursting in Air, and war.. I think the Banner has gone to the heads of to many Higher ups... What people sing alot does effect their subconscious thinking... Other than that I am still okay with hailing our star spangled banner but I feel all it stands for is slowly withering away in the name of war.. - DNatureofDTrain
