My son was born premature and is develpmentally delayed (by a few months). He's about the size of a one year old. I also have a three month old that is ready to transition to a crib. How do I know when my two year old is ready for a "big boy" bed??

Does he ask to have a big boy bed? Have you ever let him sleep in your bed or maybe on the couch? Did he get up and make trouble somewhere? I know odd questions but my kids were in reg twin beds by 1-2 years old. It is trial and error. If you can afford to buy him a toddler bed, do it. He may take right to it. If not, then just reward him verbally for sleeping in it all night or part of the night. Good Luck!

He doesn't talk yet so no he hasn't said anything about a new bed. Occasionally he will sleep with daddy in a regular bed. Nope he doesn't get out of the crib. He's to short to climb out. HA HA knock on wood!

my daughter was born 3 months preemature. she went into a big bed at 2 years and 2 months. she never asked for it but when i put it up in her room she was really excited. i'd just suggest a bed rail for the first few months, just in case. good luck.
