It depends on the person. For some people, it isn't a vital part of their lives, although they enjoy playing games and chatting, etc. For me, the computer is definitely necessary. I use it to work and to stay in touch with my family, since I live in a third world country and have few other options for earning a living.

The computer is necessary now for me actually. This is because this is the only way for me to try to earn some money since I'm not allowed to go out and work. However, too much time on the computer is not very good and we should control ourselves before our health and social lives get affected. Well, the computer does improve my life in some ways and it also makes things worse. It is good for instant communication and unlimited information plus the chance to earn some money. The bad side of the computer is that we spend too much time on it. We neglect things like sleep, food, cleanliness and a whole lot of other things. Who knows? Maybe there are some people who spent too much time online until they forgot to feed their pets. It's only a suggestion, but it could be true. That's why it's terribly important to limit our time on the Internet. Don't overuse it, that's all.
