Oh, it was one of those days!

Our morning started out normal enough. We got up, got the kids up, got us all ready for work and school. We got the kids to their bus stops. We make our regular stop at the nearby convenience store for gas, snacks and drinks, and get on our way to work.
Four miles down the road my hubby says "uh-oh, I think the tranny just went out." I don't panic, I just ask if the car died. As soon as I ask that he says "oh, the car just died." He pulls over to the shoulder and tried to restart it, no go. So we call my sister to come get me, and call the towing service to get our car home. Thankfully they both arrive at the same time.
We figure we'd go home, get our van and get ourselves off to work. Yeah, OK, it sounded good in theory. With the gas prices we only drive the van when we need to go somewhere as a family, which we haven't done in a while. So several weeks, and many below zero temps, later the battery is dead. The locks are frozen, and of course the keyfob doesn't work with the dead battery. My hubby tries to get the lock popped on his own, but we end up having to call a locksmith. $115 later (between the tow and the locksmith) we are ready for my sister to give our van a jumpstart.
My hubby shovels out the drive so that she can just pull in and she ignores the shoveling and tries to plow her Crown Vic through a snow drift and gets stuck. By this time I am thinking the Powers That Be hate me today.
So we get my sister un-stuck, get our van going and I get my hubby to work. I've made arrangements at work to go in late because of an appointment, which I am already late for, so I head back home to grab something I had forgotten. I decide it would be smart to stop and get gas before going anywhere and I pull in and turn off the van. For some reason I try to turn it back over and all I get is clicking.
Fortunately the of the gas station is a friend of mine, and he has jumper cables. He gets my van going again, and the problem was loose battery cables. I made it to my appointment, and the rest of the day went smoothly. But what an awful start to the day!
