I always thought that I would get married in my church. I would get married in December and I would wear ivory velvet. My bridesmaids would wear either Christmas Red velvet or Deep Green velvet. I would have lots of candles and flowers everywhere. I had it planned to the littlest details of the cake. The reality of it was that we got married in September just 11 days after the fall of the Twin Towers in New York. I bought my dress off the rack, used a pre-made silk flower bouquet and my bridesmaids wore made over green prom dresses. A friend made our wedding cake and my mom made the other refreshments for our reception. After the fall of the towers, I realized just how short life can be and that you never know what tomorrow may bring.
I just wanted to marry my guy and spend whatever time we had left on this earth with him. So, the dream wedding was tossed out. It didn't really matter, all that mattered was marrying my guy. I will have my dream wedding on our 10 year anniversay when we renew our vows. It is already planned. I just have 4 more years to wait. Do, I regret tossing my dream wedding out the window to marry my guy when I did? Not for a second. :)

That's a beautiful story! I hope your 10 year anniversary is all you've dreamt it to be. :)

I always thought I would be the first to get married out of me and my sister. I would have a lovely summer wedding with bridesmaids in lilac. However, my sister was first to marry and had a summer wedding with lilac bridesmaids, she had a big church wedding, with everyone having a sit down meal afterwards.
By this time I had met my husband to be and when we decided to get married we laid in bed one morning and decided we didnt want a huge big wedding, we also didnt want to wait for summer to come around again. We got married on Christmas eve, I wore a lovely ivory dress with burgandy/red on the bodice. The bridesmaids were in burgandy/red. Our parents and my sister, her husband and my husbands brother and girlfriend had a meal after the church and later they went home. They came back later in the eve with other friends and family for a party.
Although it wasnt what I had always dreamed of as a little girl, it was a lovely day and was better than my little girl dreams. it was perfect for me and my husband. We got married the way we wanted and looking back at mine and my sisters wedding photos I much preferred my Christmas wedding with the red colours.

When I was a little girl, I've been dreaming of a fairy tale wedding.. that I'm a princess getting married to my prince charming.. and that our story would end just like the famous line "and they lived happily ever after".. But when I get older, i've just wanted a simple church wedding.. enough to see my family, relatives and closest friends there on that special day as a witness to our vows.. For me, it doesn't have to be extravagant.. What's important is the marriage, our life after the wedding, and not the wedding itself.. On how are we going to make the marriage work and how could we make it lasts. I'm proud to say the even if I didn't had a large wedding i've wanted when I was young, I've got got the sweetest, kindest and the most thoughtful hubby whom I really grateful for.. And with God's grace, I know we could "live happily ever after"..
