What would you take?

Your home is sitting in the path of a tornado and you have 5 minutes to grab what you can and get to safety. What would you grab knowing that when you return nothing of your home or belongings will remain?

I'd go for the animals. That wouldn't be very easy, but I'd die trying. I'd grab the dogs, toss the cat in a carrier, and hope I'd have time to get my 13 rats into carriers as well.
Everything else it material. While things like pictures can't be replaced, I'd want to concentrate on the living things. That's what is the most important.

I know it sounds cliche, but I would grab all of my kids pictures from birth on, the scrapbooks, and a bag of clothes and toys for each child. I would make sure I had my pics and my kids had a couple of toys each. :)

We have all our important document in a portable lockbox. I'd grab that, my family and pets. Everything else we own can be replaced.

When you're actually in the situation, you don't really think about it. Or at least I never have. I grew up in tornado ally and my small town was hit a few times while I lived there. We spent lots of time down in our storm shelter, but luckily we never had any major damage to our house. We never really took that much stuff down there with us. I always took my purse and a jacket. Clothes if I was still in my pajamas. We kept a little bit of food and bottles of water down there in case we got trapped down there for a while. If we could get the dogs to go down we would grab them.
Now that I've grown up and don't live with my parents, I still don't think I would worry about grabbing extra stuff. I would grab my baby of course, and try to get the dogs to go with me. I would probably still grab my purse as I walked by it. I would hate losing my stuff, but stuff just really isn't all that important. I would be much more concerned about my family and my pets.

My Cat and my photo's. Simple as.
I have many memories in my photo albums and I couldn't bear to lose them.
They have been gathered lovingly throughout the years, and also include rare photos of my Grandparents before they got ill.
They are just a few of the photos that show my grandparents as I want to remember them. Full of health and life and vitality.

My cats, my journals, my photo albums and rare perfume.
Such a horrible thought. I thought about getting a fireproof box for some of my keepsakes. Just in case.
