I did. I think it's a great way for others to find out a bit more about you and your interests. It's also a good idea to fill in some of your interests. It makes it a little easier to find topics that would be interesting to you.

I didn't for the first week or so I was here, I eventually ended up customizing my profile because the white was getting to me.
