my husband and i have a really hard time saying no to our friends and relatives. and we always are the one blaming each other in the end. my husband has such a good personality that makes him weak to say to people who needs his help. and because I've been with him for quite some time now, i guess, i am also becoming like him...

Say "no" in a way that will make the other person to say "yes"" to what you want. Do this subtly, of course. For instance, your fashion conscious sister wants to get a pink iPOD while you want a blue one. You can tell her that while pink is a cute color, its more difficult to match with her clothes. Once you level with her & link what you want with what interests her, she'll give in & agree with you

Say it nicely. You're giving negative news, so you might as well do it nicely. Let the other person down easy to avoid misunderstandings. It's the least you can for the dissapointed. People tend to be more accepting of bad news if its brought in a polite & sympathetic manner.

I actually do have a huge problem with saying NO. I have a friend who asks me for money and I always say YES. I know I will never see the money again but do it anyways. I like her a lot but I have a fear of: will she still be a my friend if I say NO.
